When Will We Change?

Reflective Writing 2

"When will our conscience grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it?" by Eleanore Roosevelt means when will people help others in their time of need and stop making matters worse. People should be compelled to help others when they need it; they should show an incentive to lend a hand. While others are better off than some and have everything they could ever ask for and more there are people who are suffering, struggling and have nothing.
The United States can be seen as the type pf person who everything but waits to help others. The US knew that Germans were killing or slaughtering Jewish people in gas chambers, and in concentration camps in the 1930s. The United States did not step in to "prevent human misery" until 1941.
The quotation by Eleanor Roosevelt"When will our conscience grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it?" means when will people grow to realize that we should help one anoher instead of watching them fall, andleaving them to rot,as many people do. The United States helped in World War II three years after the war started. 1
