A word is a unit of spoken language, or a written sign representing such an utterance.Words are the source of our very understanding of ourselves and the world around us.Whether they insult or compliment, support or oppose, provoke war on encourage peace, words invariably possess effect.Abortion, for instance is aword that incites passionate debates, and sustains much controversy.
Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. The phrase, "deliberate termination" is a meaningful concept because it signifies murder.Murder is the deliberate or premeditaed killing of a person. When a woman has an abortion, she is willing to kill the life of an unborn child. She is ordaining herself God by exercising the right to terminate a life.
However it is not the intention of most women to become murderers. They simply don't have complete comprehension of the situation. Often times they don't think of the child within them, only about resolving the "problem". Unfortunately, what women don't know is that in exercising their freedom of choice, they are removing the child's riht to freedom of life.
Advocates of Pro-Choice will argue that the embryo is not yet a life. The embryo has the complete blueprint(DNA) to become a human being. By the time the baby fetus, he will have developed a neck, ears, arms, fingers, legs, and toes. Abortion is frequently performed at this stage of life. Therefore, contrary to what Pro-Choice advocates may think, abortion is the destruction of a life.
Abortion is also, unfortunately, an accepted excuse for irrisponsibility, usually used my teenagers. Sex was originally destined for the marriage bed. It was tradition for a woman to lose her viginity on the night of her wedding. However, over the years, society became more modernized, and began to accept casual sex. Unfortunately, as casual sex bcame a norm of society, the age at which people became sexually active decresed severely. Today there are children ranging from ten to fourteen having sex. Usually when teenagers have sex, they are not concerned with protection. Consequently that one occasion when Mike forgets to put on the condom, or that one day Ellen forgets to take the pill, begins the process of abortion. Sadly, this lack of precaution has become sufficient excuse to kill a child.
Lasciviuosness and crelessness should not justify the vicious act of a murdering a child. Thomas Mann once wrote, "speech is civilization itself". The word, even the most contradictory word preserves contact." Hundreds of years from now, abortion may become a trivial word. The subject may no longer induce controversy, or posess even the most remote meaning in the English language. However, its impact on today's society wiull leave an imprint of influence on the speech of a futre generation.
