Martin Luther King Jr


Martin Luther King Jr was born on the 15th of January 1929, in Atlanta Georgia. He graduated at 15 from a segregated high school. Then in 1948 he received his B.A from Morehouse College. He attended the Crozier theological Seminary in 1951. Here he received his Bachelor of Divinity. He then enrolled in Boston University and in 1955 earned his Doctor of Philosophy.


He later accepted the pastoral of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Here he became very active in the Civil Rights Movement. Already a member of the NAACP he accepted the leadership of the first nonviolent protest in December 1955. In December 21st 1956 he led one of the greatest civil Rights Movements know as the bus boycott that lasted 238 days. This resulted in the Supreme Court’s ruling that the law requiring segregated on Buses were illegal. This inspired a national Movement, more people got involved. His March in Washington D.C where he delivered his speech “I Have a Dream” put the issue of Civil Rights on the national agenda. At 35 Martin Luther King Jr was the youngest man to receive the Nobel Piece prize. On April 4th, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee Martin Luther King Jr died. He was standing on his motel balcony.
