SHERIFF

Its something you never forget. I was driving down I 66 heading south, tired as hell, all I could think about is seeing my brother stationed in Texas, Fort Brag army base.
Eight hours on the road and sixteen to go my eyes feel like dumbbells just wanting to stay closed.
I decided to pull in to a little town called Brooksville, no street lights, no traffic signs just a dirt road.
I kept a slow fifteen miles per hour looking for a motel, all the sudden sirens, I look into my mirror and an old beet up sheriff department ford is flashing for me to pull over.
The sheriff gets out of the car uniform wrinkled, pants dirty, with facial hair that has not been cut in weeks, he approaches my car takes a good look at my NYC plates, and in a strong southern accent shouts "boy what the hell do you think your doing, this aint no New York City you cant just do what you want there are rules that have to be fallowed".
In a calm voice I responded "I didn't know that I broke any rules".
The sheriff grinded his teeth with anger and shouted "don't you dare talk back to me like that, you know what you did was wrong, I aught to lock you up for trying to get out of breaking the law".
I said "what law have I broken".
The sheriff calmly says with a smirk on his face "driving drunk without a license, speeding with reckless intentions".
With confusion and, anger I say "I am not drunk, I do have a license and, I was going only fifteen miles per hour.
Besides that how could I be breaking the speed limit with no speed limit posted.
"Here is my license, see".
He takes the license looks at it and puts it in his pants pocket, smiling he says "what license".
"The one you just put in your pocket" I said.
Looking at me with angry eyes he opens up my door, yankes me out of the car, and screems "I guess you are a real stupid mother f****r not to understand what I need from you, but I will let you sit in jail for a day, or two and, maybe you will figure out what I want" he says.
He handcufed me, and knocked me out after getting me in his car.
I woke up in a small jail with a huge head ache, twelve o'clock pm. one hour later since I last saw the sheriff, I wonder where that d**k head is.
I decided to get some sleep while he wasn't here, all the sudden a loud shatter across the jail cells "get up boy, I didn't bring you here just to sleep, I brought you here to think" The sheriff shouted.
"What the hell do you want from me, I don't understand? Do I get a trail, don't I get to call a lawyer?" I said. The sheriff smirks at me, leans to the jail cell, and with a whisper tell me "Money, a bribe, take what ever you like to call it, I want it."
"This is what its all about, money" I said. The fake accusations, the jail cell, this about money."
"You are supposed to be the law." He smiled and said "no one is going to do anything about it, tough."
I would give this corrupted cop as much as he wanted as long as it gets me out of this hell hole, but there is one big problem I knew would stand in the way, of me getting out, and that is that I really don't have any money.
"I don't have money that you want," I told him, with sweat coming down my face, wondering what he would do next.
"You mean to tell me that the forty dollars that I found in your wallet is all you have, you mean to tell me that wasted my time on you, and you don't have any money."
With anger in his eyes burning, he opens up the cell, drags me out, and beats me with the stick.
After five or so hits I was knocked out, I could only imagine how many more times he hit me before he left me knocked out and bleeding by my car.
I slowly got up wiped up the dry blood of my face, stumbled in my car, and considered my self pretty lucky to get away from a crocked cop with my life, and only a couple of burses, after pissing him off.

The End...
