Why I believe Their Eyes Were Watching God.
I have fallen in love. Not with a human being, but with a book. Recently, I finished reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and I was ecstatic. After reading this fantastic novel,I began to do some serious soul searching. This book opened so many things up in my life. Their Eyes was filled with love, romance,symbolism and true and genuine feelings via the author.In other words, it possessed true elements of the american society that people face today and then.
Their Eyes were Watching God was written in 1937. In 1937, life was totally different for blacks, whites and people in general. I am not really interested in reading a piece of literature that discusses things that transpired so long ago. Things have changed in our society today. The people of today and their beliefs are evolving. Yes, there are still similar issues that are still relevant to the men and women of the 1930's.
