"Always Running: A Book Review"
During the first semester in Mrs. Mayo's Cyber English Class, we have read many excellent books. Always Runningby Luis Rodriquez was one of them. Always Running is a great book. It was absolutely marvelous; a page-turner. It was over-flowing with street knowledge, violence, sex, money and murder, yet very realistic and vivid. It explained the life of a gang member on the crazy streets of L.A and all the pain being a gang member caused him and his family.. Many people live the life Luis did but aren't as strong minded to walk away from all the drama gang banging brings. Luis is lucky he survived the drugs and the violence.
This book was about a boy named Luis Rodriquez who with his family moved to the streets of L.A. Luis and his brother, Joe became quickly involved in a gang banging lifestyle and started commiting crimes and doing drugs.
After a while, Joe views about his lifestyle changed. He became quickly involved in other activities and left the street life behind to make something of himself. Luis didn't follow his brother's steps this time. He continued his criminal revolution.
When Luis finally decided to change, his life was already messed up. Luis overcame the problems that he was facing and went back to school. He even made it to college. Luis had a goal in life after he survived his suicidal lifestyle. He wanted to make something out of his life. Luis eventually began to write books. He even got married and had children.
Luis lived a life that most people in New York do but most of them don't survive like he did. They either end up killed or in jail, because they can't cope with the hand they were dealt. They turn to this lifestyle to fill the emptiness in their hearts, mostly to get attention. Most of the kids that fall into this stle are feeling alone and that there are no other alternatives. They need role models in their lives not people who put them down, and once that happens the feeling of running will stop.
