My Views on Filters

My Views on Filters

As I did research on Sexism, I accidentlly opened up a website witch showed a naked woman who was sitting on the floor with her knees pulled up to her chest. I backed out of the site and reopened the one I was looking for but the screen only showed this woman. I was shocked that this was on the screen. It was as if I just ran into a ghost and didn't know witch way to run. I thought since we had filters on every computer that this wasn't permitted. I was wrong. Big time.
Filters are a becoming an annoyance inside of classrooms today. They are supposed to block off certain webpages that aren't appropriate for our age. In the process of blocking off these pages, other educationally valuable sites are blocked off also. Filters aren't really helpful in blocking off sites that are not educationally fit for the class to see. They are telling us as SENIORS, that we can't be trusted. They are saying that we are at that age where we are becomming sexually active and that all we want to do is look at naked pictures on the net. WRONG!!!!!. Even without these filters this is possible. As a SENIOR myself, I think we are responsible enough not to look upon these sites as a means of excitement, especially in a classroom. Sites like those are usually used in the privacy of a person's own room or house.
In the back of everyone mind lingers a question. Is filters really necessary or are they a sign of usefulness? I already answered that question now what do you think about it?
