Cisneros devides the book into different sections, on the first page she introduces the narrator talking about how often she moves from one place to another. Esperanza tells us that this new house they just moved to it's their own and also about all the trouble she and her family have faced moving around from one place to another. Cisneros uses a different method compared to other writers. In each section she tries to focus on different topics to kind of separate the compex, the setting and the character traits to make it easier to the reader. As a mexican writer she uses traditional facts of her culture on her witing. She points out indirectly on Esperanza's charecter the way woman feels about men and their superioty over them.
