"Great Literature shows us the worst in a human being while aslo revealing the the best". This statement is saying that in many literature, the author shows us the evil side and the good side of the character. Many people agree with this statement because of Zora Neale Hurston book Their Eyes Were Watching God, and William Shakespear book Macbeth.
In Their Eyes Were Watching God, the author Zora Neale Hurston uses the character of Tea Cake. Tea Cake is younger than Janie and he values her looks and mind. When Tea Cake and Janie first meet for the first time, he shoes her his good side by making her feel comfortable and teaching her how to play checkers. Tea Cake also shows his good side by always combing her hair and teaching how to shoot a rifle. The author then shows Tea Cake evil by making him hit Janie to show the others that he has control over her. The author aslo showed Tea Cake evil side, when he tries to kill Janie. Tea Cake tries to kill Janie because he thought that she was cheating on him.
The play Macbeth by William Shakespear uses the character of Macbeth to make this statement true. The author shows Macbeth good side by descibing his loyalty and bravery in battle. The author also showed Macbeth's good side by showing how loyal and faithful he was to his wife. The author then starts to show Macbeth evil side by making him kill his kinsman, Duncan. The author also shows Macbeth evil side when he kills his best friend Banquo. Macbeth kills Banquo because of fear that banquo and his son will suspect that he killed the king.
In conclusion in many great works of literature the author shows the good and evil side of a character. Two works of literature that proved this statement to be true was Macbeth by William Shakespear and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zoral Neale Hurston. In Macbeth the author used the character of Macbeth and in Their Eyes Were Watching God the author used the character of Tea Cake to make this statement true.
