My Bestfriend

I really don't like to use the word "bestfriend" very often, but I am about to use it alot to thank one of the most important people in my life. She is one of most caring and loving person I have ever met. Behind all the jokes and foolishness, she is one of the most loving and unselfish people that I know.

    Dear Osato:
Thank you for being such a great friend. I know we haven't spent as much time as we used to together over the past few months, but you have still been a great friend.
We became friends because of basketball. I was on the basketball team and you were on the track team. My coach sent me to recruit you to play basketball since you were athletic and six feet-two inches. I did not know that we would end up such good friends. We were in the same class and I could not stand you when I first met you and you couldn't stand me either. You didn't like basketball and took offense because I asked if you knew how to play. You said "No, and why you ask, is it because I am tall." I replied that, "I did not really care, the coach sent me to ask, and you probably couldn't even play.". Well, that was our first conversation; it was an arguement and I did not want to ever speak to you again.
As you know, that wasn't our last arguement or conversation. Throughout our four years of friendship we argued about everything from who is the better basketball player, Iverson or Carter, to which color would look better on our homepage. The arguements never stopped. We have been through alot in such little time. We always had each others back no matter what. We had alot of good and bad times. We remained friends through all of the BS, all the he say, she say. We never got into a fist fight, even though I would kick your butt if we did, just kidding!
We both have grown and matured over the years. I do not think I would be the same person that I am now, if it wasn't for you, O. We both learned to listen and appreciate each other. This is our final year here and we will be going on two different paths in life. You will be heading out to college and continuing to play basketball. I will head out to the Air Force and continue my education. I do not know if this will be the end of our friendship or if God will make another path for us to meet again and continue our journey, as friends. There is a saying that goes "you only make one friend who will be
there with you for the rest of your life" and I hope you are that friend for me. Even if we do not meet again I will never forget you. I told you I was going to name my daughter after you and I meant it. Even if we dont meet again my daughter will remind me of our of friendship. I wish you great success in the future and I hope you continue to excel in everything that you do. You are a very talented and gifted young woman. I hope you make the best of your talent and of your life. I love you Buddy.
