Is Filtering All That Bad For Education?

People have different answers to the question "Is Filtering Appropiate For Education? I personally believe that filtering is not needed in the school and can have a negative affect on the students atitude.
Being able to have an adults' trust is one of the most important aspect in a child's life. When a student gets the feeling that his/her teacher has no trust in them they begin to loss respect for that teacher, and that is when a negative relationship is built between the teacher and the student.
If the teacher would make the assignment interesting enough the students would not want to go internet surfing in order to find excitement. I know from first hand experience that if computer class is not packed with excitement a childs' interest will stray. I also believe that it is the teachers job to be the filter, if she feels that her group of students are not mature enough, they not should be on computers in the first place. The teacher should take time to supervise what her students are working on, by doing this the student will be aware that the teacher is constantly watching and would be to afraid of getting caught.
Taking away someones option is not always the solution to a problem. Putting filters on the school computers is just taking away the students options. Most people believe that children make bad decisions but you should first give them a chance to make a decision, it may not be a bad one.
