The Color Of Water

The Color of Water by James Mc. Bride is a story that is about the relationship between a white jewish mother and her mixed son. He goes through life wondering about who he and his mother really are--- racial wise. He learns that love comes in all colors and races. As a young child James grows up with the fact that he had no father to raise him. He has a mother who is a short answering to the point kind of person. She shows James reality and how life is tough and that you can't trust anybody. Growing up in a family of twelve he learns that sharing is a hard thing to do, the children hide things from each other due to the fact that survival of the fittest is at hand.

James's mother is like my mother only more tougher and less soft-spoken. He goes through the ideals that his mother can be many things at once. even if the fact that they didn't have much, On page 9 in chapter The Bicycle "The nuts and bolts of raising us was left to mommy, who acted as chief surgeon for bruises.....,war secretary.....,religious consultant....,cheif psychologist...., and financial adviser". I feel like this refers to me and the wonderful relationship I have with my mother because before she was a nurse even though we already had enough my mother could metamorphasize into anything just to secure our needs. She would be my coach when I played softball. She would be my inspriration. she would be the mediating counselor when me and my older brother fought, or be our stockholder for any money or checks we got during our birthday.
