Short Story

Throughout John's life, he had many ups and downs. Mostly downs John had. He been in and out of juvenile jail throughout his teenage life. At the age of 16, he dropped out of High School. As a foster child, he been with many different family's. At times he would have to change family's almost every year. It seem like John didn't have no hopes or dreams of becoming anything in the field of work. But strangely John had a love for building things such as tables chairs, anything that had to deal with being a carpenter.

As John got older, between his mid twenties, he knew that he had to make a living some way or another. He thought that even though he did not have no High School Diploma, nor a GED, could still be able to land a job doing the one thing he loved, which was being a carpenter. So just like anyone else thats looking for a good job, John went out and started to look for a job doing construction. John applied at hardware stores, construction companies, etc. He could not figure out why some of the places he went for a job for did not call him in for a interview or a position. John would sometimes call the places he applied at to see if the managers considered his application. But the managers would tell him to call back or at most times when John would call whoever would answer the phone would tell John that the managers are busy please call back. John started to give up and not try anymore. He soon realized that there had to be something up with the places that he applied at. He realized that most of the places had older employees than himself. He also came to the conclusion that he had to be discriminated by his age. John was very disturbed and upset of this matter. He stopped going to local carpenter stores, filling out applications. He also stopped calling managers to see if they looked at his application.

John came up with an idea that maybe he can build things of his and selling at, like going into business for himself. From there on he made sorts of things. Tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, anything you can think of,he did. For fifty years, John was the neighborhood carpenter man.
