Will Racism Exist In 2050?
Each individual has a different understanding of what racism is, and the boundary to which it is extended. According to the American Heritage Dictionary, racism is "the notion that one's own ethnic stock is superior" and secondly "discrimination or prejudice based on race." With these definitions at hand one can believe that racism will continue in the year 2050.
Racism can be traced back as early as the 19th century, during slavery. Despite the work of advocates to put an end to this, it still continues. It is my opinion that if racism has been going on throughout hundreds of years it can continue for hundreds more.
The majority of people has not yet learned to accept individuals by looking past a particular difference. People won't ever be able to look past the ethnic or religious difference. It is as if society fears anything that is different. Individuals have to tackle the problem of racism everyday. It is most common in the work places or at school because of the common stereotypes that follow a particular group, and as tradition everyone follows this stereotype.
I am in total agreement that racism will continue in 2050 because of society's fear to accept differences. If racism has existed years despite aims to terminate it, it can indeed continue to exist.
