How to make Oats Cereal

Although I despise oats cereal, my aunt tells me it is my duty to make it every Friday evening. The family worships on Saturdays and instead of getting up early that morning to make breakfast,I make cereal Friday evenings.Divine worship on Saturday mornings is extremely lengthy and so one can only get through that with a proper breakfast. My aunt's idea of a proper Saturday morning breakfast is cereal and toast.

Before I begin preparing, I gather all the ingredients. This is cinamon, nutmeg, salt, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and sugar. After the water is put to boil, the oats, cinnamon, vanilla, salt and nutmeg are combined in a bowl. When the water starts boiling the mixture is added to the water. A low flame is maintained under the pot to prevent burning. The mixture must be stirred continuously to avoid clumping.

Once the oats is cooked the evaporated milk, sweetened milk and brown sugar is added, to give added flavor and color. The cereal can then be left to simmer.Think it sounds hard? It is not, the whole process takes approximately 20 minutes or less.

Although I dislike oats cereal, I must say it releases a delightful aroma which fills the surrounding atmosphere and beyond. My aunt comes home and taste the cereal. She either goes "ooh good" or "no,this needed more salt"or "why did you add so much sugar."

Just reheat, get a spoon and eat away. It is not real oats cereal until you get your mouth or even your clothes messed up.Saturday mornings when we sit to eat this is like soul food to my aunt."Breakfast is the most important meal for the day", she always say.
