KORN

Korn is:
KoRn was formed in 1993 when two bands: Sex Art and LAPD: combined.
Sex Art was the band that Jonathan Davis (lead singer of KoRn) lead during his years as an assistant coroner.
LAPD was the band which included Munkey Schaffer (guitar), David (drums), Fieldy (bass) (later) and on tour only
(not on the album) Brian (also guitar). LAPD was larger than Sexart and some of their stuff can be found.
Unfortunatley, Sexart was pretty small and it is impossible to find anything from them. Jonathan was only in
Sexart for 4 months, however the other four member of Korn had been performing for quite a while. Monkey states that,
"me, Fieldy, and David recorded it when we were about 18 or 19. You might even hear some KoRn parts. That's when I
played rippin' solos." Before making the wise decision to go into music, Jon was working as an assistant coroner in the
Kern County (California) Coroners Department (also moonlighting as an undertaker at a nearby funeral home), having recently
earned a degree at San Francisco's School of Mortuary Science.KoRn currently has two records out: KoRn and Life is Peachy.
Both of these are awesome, of course, and I recommend them both very highly.
As time goes on, KoRn is becoming more and more popular. They have earned this well
deserved success the old-fashioned way; through tireless touring, street-level self-promotion, and constant, direct contact with
their growing legion of fans. Korn are big cyberspace pioneers too: In July '96 they became the first band on the Internet to conduct
an interactive radio broadcast during which fans got a sneak preview of Life Is Peachy; they saw and heard the band play several of
their new songs live, and phoned in questions via an 800 number. "The coolest thing about this band is we've stayed underground and
our fans are still so true," says singer Jonathan Davis. "They're so militant and crazy about us." On the topic of the inspiration
for their two albums, Jon explains "The last album was going into high school. This one is high school and after, I guess."
The album title was taken from a kids' popular notebook doodling on the yellow Pee-Chee folders: "Life is Peachy but sex is an all-season sport."
"A.D.I.D.A.S." also comes from Jon's school days--an acronym for "All Day I Dream About Sex."
