Transitions can be found on many of the classic kits you might want to clone. Some of these were made from balsa and others were paper. Balsa transitions can be ordered from BMS or you can try turning your own. However paper transitions are another issue. Many times the plans will have the transition pattern that you can copy. If not then you're stuck with trying to figure out how to do it. The math isn't that hard to do if you need to calculate the layout of a paper shroud. However, since you're reading this on the computer you can do it the easy way and download a free program that will do all the calculations for you plus print out the pattern. How neat is that?
The software was written to determine the stability of the rockets we build and I heartily suggest you explore the primary function of that aspect of it. However, a side function of this same program is making transition patterns. |
