My Bright And Shining Light

Welcome to my dedication page for my dad! My dad was a loving husband and father. He was my bright light and strength for the future. We didn't have much growing up, but he made up for it in the love he showed us. Dad wasn't a man of many words, he had a quiet strength. We could go to him with any problem and it seemed he always had the answer.

Dad was the kind of man that would give you his shirt off his back, or try to help someone else in need. But you see, he wasn't rich in money, but he was in love.

Growing up he was always there for us. Dad took the time to listen to everything we had to say. He seemed to know when we were hurting and he'd soothe the pain away with a touch of his loving hand. My dad had a hard life, but he always saw the good in everything. I don't know how he was able to do that, he never really got a fair shake in life.

His great joys in life were his grandchildren. I remember when Amber was born, he was there for me. He had to leave the room though because he said he didn't want to see me in such pain. I remember many a night, when Amber would get up in Dad's lap and he would hold and talk to her until she fell asleep. He was so good to her and she loved him so much. And I know he loved her, you could see it in his eyes and smile when he looked at her. We were truly blessed by God to have had him for a father.

Dad worked most of his life, until he hurt his back at work. He had to have back surgery on it. I remember going to the hospital to visit him, and he looked so strange laying in that bed. I could see he was in alot of pain, it made me want to cry. After that his health was never the same. He had to quit work, and he went on workman's comp. I don't think he liked it to much, he was a proud man and he was to use to working.

On one cold December morning, my dad got a phone call, my sister needed a ride home from work. And being my dad, he never complained about it, he just got up and got ready to go pick her up. It had been snowing earlier so the car had gotten stuck and he had to shovel it out. Well Dad never made it to get her, he passed away that morning. He'd had a massive heart attack outside in the snow. My sister Jackie tried to revive him but it was not use, my dad was gone.

How we miss him and love him. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. But God was calling him home, away from all the pain and sorrow. He will be forever missed and thought of. And now you can understand why he was and still is truly loved.
