What Does Christmas Mean to Me and My Pets?
I live alone at the moment, or as alone as one can be with seven cats in the house!
My family usually come from England for Thanksgiving, so the cats and I typically spend Christmas together. I try to make it a special day for all of us.
The day starts with a special treat for the cats -- CAT NIP, sprinkled on the floor of their very own room! This is, in part, to make up for the fact that every Thanksgiving, they get evicted from this room when it turns into the guest bedroom!
No Christmas would be complete without decorations and the cats are always willing
to help me put up the garland and the tree. They especially like playing "chase the end of the pretty red ribbon" and "what's in the plastic bag?".
When it's time to open the gifts, the cats always like to make an inspection they like to read the cards and see who the gifts are from.
The cats watch my every move during this process, and like to help with the ribbons and bows.
And, of course, after a hard day filled with playing, eating, more playing and more eating, there's nothing quite like a well-earned nap in the wrapping paper. After all, we can't let it blow away and make a mess now, can we?
