People
say Jaye looks like a beautiful woman, but also looks
like a beautiful man. He looks like woman without trying,
he never wears dresses. Jaye said: '
I'm very feminine-looking, but I'm not transvestitle.' When he was
interviewed in a Soho cafe, he was wearing blank Dolce
& Gabbna (His favorite designers) trousers and a
cut-off denim shirt. His hair was scraped back into a
bun. He wasn't wearing any makeup, but still looks like a
woman.
|
Jaye, a
25 year-old big boy, was plucked by director Neil Jordan
from London's gay club scene. And Jaye took the part in '
The Crying Game' just simply because he wanted the money
to buy a pair of boots he'd admiring in Vogue. Jaye had
no acting experience before ' The Crying Game ' but the
movie earns him an Academe Award Best Spporting Actor
Naminee. He said he only went to the Oscar ceremony
because he was paid a fortune by the film company.
|
When
the script arrived Jaye, he was shocked by the scope and
complexity of his role. '
I thougt, dear God, how am I going to do this? It's so
emotional, all these ups and downs ' . Neil Jordan
recalls Jaye shaking with nerves during the first day on
set. Then, rapidly, cast and crew were excited to watch
his confidence grow. ' An extraordinary quality came
through, ' says Jordan. ' An elegance, a sense of inner
dignity, an emotional purity. And, he adds, ' a beautiful
woman. '
|
When
interviewer asked Jaye, was he comfortable with Stephen
Rea in ' The Crying Game ', he said,
' I would imagine that Stephen would have been more
uncomfortable with me than I would have been with him...I
felt sorry for Stephen. I can't speak for him, of course,
but I just thought, this poor man has to kiss me.'
|
He was
surprised that audiences believe Dil is a woman, he said
'
I don't have a brilliant body at all. I've got very broad
shoulders and very big feet. I've also got a very
muscular neck. But I know people take me for a woman, it
happens all the time. '
|
He was
a fashion assistant before got ' The Crying Game' role.
Jaye wanted to work in the arts. He said, '
My dream come true would be to be an architectural
historian and work with the royal palaces and all the
fabulous art collections. But I'm not committed enough.
I'm too trashy. I like to go out and get drunk.'
|
Jaye
said he can see himself doing a fashion assistant for a
lifetime. '
I enjoy doing it. ', Jaye said, '
I'm creative in my own life. I'm one of those dreadful
people who probably should have been born at the end of
the 19th centruy and been in cafe society and just sat
there chatting about absolute boolocks. That would have
suited me fine.'
|
Jaye
doesn't has an agent because he doesn't want anyone to
offer him another part. He doesn't want to be tempted out
into crap films just for the money.
|
He
likes 'The Crying Game'.
' The movie is about how you just never know. You never
know what you will be attracted to or who you will love,
till it happens to you. I've only been in love once in my
whole life, and I never thought I'd fall in love at all.
'
|
The most important thing in Jaye's life, ' is to live my life and to enjoy it ' , Jaye said, ' to do what I think is right and what I think is good. ' ... ' There'll always be a copy of this film somewhere. I don't want to make an impression on the world. That's not important to me at all. ' |
