A/n: Hope you like it~ I got this idea from a Japanese comic book I read^^. And, I used “” when the character is talking, and I used ‘’ when the character is thinking.

~*Angel’s Dream*~

A dim sunlight shone through the window into the room. Yolei got up from her bed, she yawned as she stretched her arms. She rubbed her eyes gently and yawned again.

It was just another typical day, Yolei Inoue, a 14 years old girl. Just like every other high school teenager, she woke up at 7:00 and go to school at 7:30. Her feet slipped into her slippers and she stood up. Yolei walked to her little bird; it was a cute little white bird that sings beautiful songs.

“Good morning.” Yolei greeted. The bird was lying in its ness in a cave, which was hanging besides Yolei’s bed. The bird stood up from its lying position; just then Yolei had notice something was underneath its little feet- - -An egg! Yolei was surprised and happy at the same time. It was the first time it had ever had an egg. She quickly opened the cave’s door, and gently picked up the little egg. Yolei held it in her hands so carefully, scared that she might break it. Suddenly she heard a cracking sound, it was coming from the egg, followed by was another cracking sound, this time it’s even louder, and another. Yolei watched as the egg finally cracked open, and a………?!!

“AH!!!! MY GOD~~~ TELL ME THIS ISN’T HAPPENING~~~” Yolei yelled out loud as she fell down onto the floor, with the thing still in her hands, her glasses almost dropped from her nose. Yolei was so shocked by what she saw; she adjusted her glasses back to its proper position and stared at it with her mouth dropped to the floor. So what is it that made Yolei over reacted like she saw a ghost? Well when the egg cracked open, Yolei saw a GIRL hatched from the egg instead of a bird! And with WINGS at her back!! Yolei stared at the tiny little girl in her hand; she was so small just like a newborn baby bird. She couldn’t find her voice in five minutes. Then she heard her mom opened her door,

“ Yolei dear? Are you ok? What were you yelling at?” her mom asked. Yolei quickly hide her hands behind her back.

“Huh? Oh! Hahaha………… I……… I’m fine! I’m fine mom! Hahaha………Oh! Mom, breakfast ready yet? I’m really hungry. Hahaha………” Yolei laughed at her mom nervously. Mrs. Inoue looked at her puzzled, and then she left as she closed the door.

“Oh………that was close………”Yolei murmured to her self. She brought her hands back in front of her face, stared blankly at the little girl. The little girl opened her eyes slowly, she had big red eyes, and her long moisture brown hair scattered on her shoulder. A pair of pure white wings hanged on her back.

“Oh my god………an………an angel………?” Yolei asked her self in disbelieve. “Am I dreaming?” Yolei closed her eyes tight and shook her head back and forth several times before opening her eyes again. She still saw the little girl in her hand. “Nope………I’m not dreaming alright.”

“Yolei! You are going to be late for school!” Yolei heard her mom yelled from outside, a big sweat drop dropped down from her head.

“Ok mom! I’m coming!” She replied. Yolei turned her gaze back to the angel in her hands. “What am I going to do with you? I can’t just leave you here………” Yolei thought for a second and sighed with the solution. “Well, I think I will just have to take you with me to school.” Yolei looked at the little angel’s naked body, and frowned. “But first, I need to find you something to wear.” She sighed again.

~*~*~*~*~
Yolei entered the classroom with her books and a basket in her hands. She sat on her spot looking nervously. Everyone was talking to his or her friends; some students were sitting on their spot reading a book. It was 7:45 in the morning, 15 minutes before class start; but the teacher was still not there yet.

“Hey Yolei!!” Yolei looked towards the direction where the voice came from. The speaker was a brown haired boy with a pair of goggle on his head, Davis walked towards Yolei, and he sat on his desk, which was on Yolei right hand side.

“Hi Davis.”

“ What’s with the basket?” Davis asked, pointing to the basket on the floor besides Yolei’s foot.

“ Oh, nothing……… You know just a basket………Hahaha………” She replied nervously. Davis looked at her with the same expression Yolei’s mother had in the morning, puzzled.

“O………Kay………can I take a look at what’s inside?”

“NO!” Yolei blurted out. “I.I mean………it’s just my lunch, so………Hahaha………” Now, she felt REALLY nervous and weird. Davis was about to protest when he and Yolei both heard a yell.

“KEN!!” a girl in Yolei’s class exclaimed, and grabbing other girls’ attention in the classroom, of course Davis’s and Yolei’s too. Yolei turned her head and saw Ken was standing at the door, struggling and trying to get rid of the girls surrounding him and get into the classroom. Davis stood up and walked towards Ken and finally helped him out from the crowd.

“Thanks Davis.”

“No problem Ken.”

Every morning was like this. When Ken entered the classroom, girls immediately surrounded him like an unbreakable wall, that doesn’t including Yolei of course. She just sat there and watched Davis has to ‘rescue’ Ken every morning. It made Yolei wanted to laugh and sometimes Yolei feel kind of sorry for Ken, for all the attention he got, too much attention Ken can’t even handle them anymore. Sometimes she wished that she could get those attentions from Ken, and she knew that it would never happen. She saw Ken and Davis were talking to each other freely, and Ken laughed at something that Davis said.

‘Poor Ken………Ever since Kari died he hardly ever laughed, he hardly ever felt happiness, after all………they were a couple. And the only person that could make him laugh is Davis. They are such good friends………I wish I were the one who can cheer Ken up.’ Yolei thought to her self.

Kari was Yolei’s best friend, and was also Ken’s girlfriend, they were very happy together; at least that’s what Yolei thought. Suddenly, Kari died of a car accident one day. Everyone was very sad about Kari’s death, especially Ken and Yolei. On the day of Kari’s funeral, Yolei cried, so did Ken, and that was the first time Yolei had seen Ken cried. The sound of the bell rang brought Yolei back to reality, as soon as the teacher walked into the classroom the class began.

“X plus Y equals………” The teacher stood on the stage with a textbook in his hand explained the problem to the class as he wrote on the blacked broad with a chalk. Usually Yolei would pay her full attention to what the teacher said, but today she just seemed couldn’t concentrate on anything. She was too busy thinking about the little angel, ‘what should I do with her? I can’t let anyone know about her. They would think her as some sort of monster. I can’t let mom knows it either; she wouldn’t let me keep her. What should I do??’ questions like these filled Yolei’s head since she got to class this morning. She sighed, couldn’t think of a solution. The teacher heard Yolei sighed; he stopped writing on the blackboard.

“Miss Inoue, is there something bothering you? Or is the class bored you?”

Yolei looked embarrassed, blushing slightly at the teacher’s statement. Couldn’t answer the teacher’s question.

“Please, pay attention in class.” With that he turned back to the blackboard where he had left. On the other side of the room, a pair of dark blue eyes was watching her………

~*~*~*~*~
The last bell of the morning finally rang. Students quickly left the room. It was lunchtime, and everyone headed for the cafeteria. Yolei had brought her own lunch today, so she went out to eat instead of stayed at the cafeteria.

“ Come on………you can do it! Keep up trying! Come on.” Yolei cheered for the little angel who was trying to use her wings to fly. The little angel tried and tried and Yolei kept on encouraging her. Finally she had succeed, she could fly freely in the sky with her wings.

“Yeah!!! You did it!” Yolei cheered for her little angel as she clapped her hands. The little angel smiled at her.

“Wow! That was amazing!” The sudden statement startled Yolei; she turned her head and was shocked by who she saw, Ken.

“Ke………Ken! I.I can explain!” Yolei said trying to hide the angel who was floating in the air, but before she could do anything the little angel had already flew to Ken’s palm.

“It’s ok Yolei. I won’t hurt her.” Ken said as he smiled down at the little angel. He walked towards Yolei and sat besides her on the grass. Yolei looked at him blushing, she had always liked him and was afraid to tell him. She felt really hurt when Kari had told Ken that Kari liked him. She never told anyone about her crush on Ken, not even Kari.

“Um………Ken, can you please keep it a secret?” she asked in a low voice.

“Sure, I promise I won’t tell anyone about her.” He answered with a smile on his face.

“Thank you………” Yolei blushed and looked down. They sat there in silence for a moment, and then Yolei started,

“What are you doing here anyway?” she asked, her eyes were still looking down.

“Oh, I just wanted to know how were you doing. Cause I thought something might be wrong with you, because you weren’t paying attention in class today and you usually do.” He answered, still playing with the little angel in his palm. But Yolei was shocked when she heard the reply.

‘He………he cares about me?’

“But now I see, you were probably just worried about this little thing.” Ken continued. “If I were you I would be worry too, I mean an angel? That’s just so unbelievable.”

“Yeah………”

“Where did you find her anyway?” Ken asked. His voice was full of curiosity. Yolei started telling him how she found the egg how the angel was born and Ken listened to her carefully. He sat there completely in silence while she was telling him the story, and he spoke after she finished the story.

“Wow………that’s unbelievable………” Ken looked down at the little angel who was now sleeping peacefully in his hand, and yet, it’s hard to believe even though he’s holding it with his own hand and watching it with his own eyes. They both stared at her for a moment in silence.

“Did you name her yet?” Ken suddenly asked.

“No, not yet.” She replied.

“Um………how about Tenshi?” he suggested. Yolei finally raised up her head and looked at him blushing slightly, he looked back at her.

“I………I like it. Tenshi………” she smiled at him, he smiled back at her. They talked for the rest of the lunch break as they ate their lunch.

‘Tenshi………our Tenshi Ken………’ That lunch break was like a dream; it was so mild and………sweet. Yolei will never forget that day with that special person………Ken.

Since that day, everyday at the lunchtime, Ken would wait for Yolei and Tenshi at the same spot, and they would eat lunch together, they would talk, they talked about all sorts of things. Sometimes they would talk about Kari, like how nice she was and her friendship with Yolei. Sometimes Yolei felt so lucky that she got Tenshi, cause she thought the only reason she and Ken were so close because of Tenshi, without Tenshi Yolei would never able to get a chance talking with Ken and eating lunch with him everyday.

‘Thank you Tenshi, I never dreamed I could be this close with Ken, and talking to him freely. It’s all because of you, you made my dream of true Tenshi………thank you………’

~*~*~*~~
Yolei changed into her pajamas, and climb onto her bed. Tenshi flew onto her, Yolei turned to face her.

“Hey Tenshi.” She said quietly.

“Te………Ten………Tenshi………” Tenshi opened her small lips and repeated after Yolei. Yolei was surprised first, she never thought Tenshi can talk, but soon she smiled at Tenshi.

“Yeah that’s right, Tenshi.” Yolei said it again.

“Ten………shi………Tenshi.” The little angel’s voice was sweet, just like a candy.

“Good. Now try to say Yolei.”

“Yo………lei………Yolei.” Tenshi repeated after Yolei.

“Good job Tenshi! Now say Ken”

“Ke………Ken………Yo………Yolei li………ke Ken…” Yolei giggled as her face turned red.

“Let’s sleep now, tomorrow we have to meet Ken.” With that, they both fall into sleep.

~*~*~*~*~
“Hi Yolei!” Ken greeted her cheerfully. It was lunchtime again, and as usual, Ken was sitting on the same spot waited for Yolei and Tenshi to arrive.

“Hi Ke………”

“KEN!” Yolei was cut off by Tenshi, who flew into Ken’s palm as she exclaimed his name. Ken laughed little and looked at Yolei,

“Did you teach her to talk?” he asked. Yolei blushed slightly and nodded.

“Yolei like Ken.” Tenshi said in a very sweet voice. Ken blinked at Tenshi, and then blinked Yolei who were blushing madly. He was shocked by what he heard.

“Wha………what? Tenshi, what did you say?”  Ken asked surprised.

“Yolei………” Before she could finish, Yolei grabbed her from Ken’s hands and covered Tenshi’s mouth with her hands.

“Hahaha………don’t listen to her Ken. Come on, let’s eat already I’m really hungry.” Yolei said nervously.

“Um, right”

~*~*~*~*~
The last bell of the day finally rang, students left the classroom as soon as they packed their books. Yolei walked out from the classroom with her basket in her hand.

“You think you can get Ken with whatever you have in your stupid basket?” Yolei was startled by the sudden voice coming from behind. She stopped walking and turned back to see who’s talking, and she found two girls in her class was standing behind her in the hall way.

“No way!” one of the girls continued.

“ Ken will never like you, you will never get Ken!” Yolei felt hurt by their statement.

“ And what about Kari? She will never forgive you if she knew Ken’s with you! Ken will never like you because he likes Kari! And always will be!” Yolei’s heart was in pain; it felt like thousands of needles had stuck in her heart.

“ I can’t believe you were Kari’s best friend! Have you no shame? How could you do this to Kari? She’s your best friend! This isn’t fair for her! Just remember, Ken will never like you, not in a million years because he likes Kari even though she died!”

Yolei’s eyes were filled with hot tears now; she couldn’t bare to keep on listening so she ran off with tears flow down from her eyes down to her cheeks. She ran as fast as she could, sobbing lightly while running. Once Yolei got home, she ran straight to her room and locked the door behind her. Her mom wasn’t home yet; she’s still at work. Yolei threw her bags and basket on the floor; she threw her self onto her bed and began to cry controllably.

‘They were right! Ken will never like me because he likes Kari even though she’s dead! What was I thinking? I’m not good enough to replace Kari! I’m so sorry Kari!’

Tenshi peeked out from the basket, she flew over to Yolei trying to comfort her, but it didn’t work. Yolei kept on crying and crying until she didn’t have any tears to cry anymore, and fall sleep with pains in her heart………

The next day Yolei didn’t eat lunch with Ken, she didn’t go to meet with him at their special place like she always did. Today, Yolei ate her lunch in the cafeteria alone. Ken wanted to talk to Yolei in the afternoon, but he didn’t get a chance. When the final bell had rang, everyone left the classroom one by one. When Yolei was about to exit from the door, she heard Ken’s voice calling her from behind.

“Yolei. Please don’t go yet.” Ken’s voice was gentle. Yolei obeyed and she turned back to face him.

“Why weren’t you there today?” Ken asked in a flat tone.

“I wasn’t feeling well.” Yolei asked in a voice that was equally flat.

“Oh………well, are you feeling better now?”

“Yeah, thank you.”

“Good. Um……… since today is Friday, do you want to do something on the weekend? I mean together? We can go to the green house.”

Yolei blushed, but remembered about yesterday.

“Sorry Ken, I………”

“Please Yolei, don’t say no. I have something really important to tell you.” Ken cut off Yolei, not giving her a chance to reject him. Yolei looked into his eyes, then she nodded.

“When?” she asked.

“Sunday is good, um, Sunday at 10am?”

“Sure, see you then.” She turned her back was about to leave.

“Don’t forget to bring Tenshi with you.” Ken reminded her. She nodded without turning back and left the classroom.

On the way home, Yolei was really confused about her feelings. She felt happy and sad at the same time. She felt happy because Ken had asked her out; she felt sad and guilty when she thought about Kari.

‘I’m sorry Kari, but just this once, the last time. I want to know what Ken want to tell me. Just this once………’

~*~*~*~*~
Sunday finally had arrived; Yolei woke up in the morning and got dressed for her date. Yolei felt really depressed because she decided that this was her first and last date with Ken. She got dressed for Tenshi as well, after that she had something to eat before she left the house.

They decided to met at the front gate of school, when Yolei arrived there Ken was already there.

“Hey Ken.” Yolei greeted. Ken turned his face to see Yolei. He smiled.

“Hi Yolei.” He replied. Then he saw Tenshi flew out from the basket.

“Ken!” she greeted.

“Hi little angel. Now let’s go.” With that they headed for the green house. On the way to their destination, they walked completely in silence, until when Ken spoke.

“It was you wasn’t it?” Ken asked suddenly broke off the deadly silence between them. Yolei looked at him puzzled.

“Huh?”

“You were the one who kept leaving notes on my locker, right?” Yolei was shocked at his question. Her eyes went wide.

‘How did he know?’

“Huh? What are you talking about?” Yolei tried to pretend she doesn’t know what he was talking about.

“Don’t play dumb with me Yolei. Ever since my first soccer game in high school, I kept on getting notes. And it’s always from the same person with the same message on it, ‘Good luck in the game Ken.’ And I knew it was from you.” Yolei was shocked, her face was really read; she didn’t know what to say. Once again they went completely silence. Finally they had arrived at the green house.

“Wow! Look at these plants and flowers! They look beautiful!” Yolei exclaimed. She loved flowers and plants, and she’s glad that Ken had taken her out to this green house.

“Yeah…………they are. Kari and I use to come to here a lot. She loved the smell of these plants.”

‘He still thinks of Kari………’

Yolei felt tears in her eyes again. She tried her best to swallow back the tears. She turned her face to the basket in her hand and suddenly remembered Tenshi.

“Tenshi, you can come out now, there aren’t a lot of people.” She said as she opened the basket, but she was shocked when she looked into the basket, her eyes went wide, Tenshi wasn’t in there!

“Tenshi! Oh no! She’s disappeared!” Yolei exclaimed, grabbing Ken’s attention from the flowers. Ken quickly turned his head to Yolei. His navy blue eyes went wide as well.

“What? Disappeared? How come?” Ken asked surprised.

“I don’t know, she was in the basket but when I look in, she wasn’t there!”

“I think she must have flew out from the basket by her self without telling us. Come on, let’s go find her!” Ken exclaimed. Yolei nodded in agreement. So they started searching for Tenshi in the green house.

“Tenshi! Tenshi!” They shouted loudly while running and looking everywhere in the green house. They didn’t care people giving them strange looks. All they cared about was Tenshi.

‘Oh Tenshi, please be alright, please………’ Yolei pleaded in her heart. Ten minutes has passed but they still didn’t see a sign of Tenshi.

“Where could she be?” Ken asked himself out loud.

“She………she’s gone.” Yolei said in a flat voice. Ken turned his face to look at Yolei, she was on her knees with her hands covered her face and sobbing quietly.

“She’s gone………so is my dream………”Yolei sobbed louder into her hands. Ken bent down besides her and put a hand on her shoulder.

“It’s all right Yolei, she will be back soon. We just need to try harder.” Ken said, trying to comfort the sobbing girl.

“No, she won’t. She’s gone so is my dream! And so are my memorises with you Ken!” Ken was shocked of Yolei’s reply.

“Tenshi was everything to me! All I have was she! She brought my dream come true, and she’s all my good memorises with you! All those times we spent together! Without her, my dream can’t come true! Without her you won’t even talk to me anymore! And I love Tenshi! She’s like my little sister!” Yolei sobbed even harder now. Ken looked completely shocked at Yolei.

“That’s not true! You can keep our memorises as long as you want! And we can keep on making new memorises!” Ken paused, his hand reached for Yolei face. Yolei stopped crying and looked at him.

“I talked to you wasn’t because of Tenshi, I talked to you because you are my friends, I talked to you because I………I like you!” Yolei looked at him surprised, she never thought he would say something like this to her. Ken looked back at her; they stared into each other’s eyes. Ken pulled her into his arm, hugged her closely.

“But………Ken, what about Kari………? I, I can’t betray her, she’s my best friend and she trusted me!” Yolei asked, tears filled her eyes again.

“Listen to me Yolei. Ever since I first got your note, I’ve been wanted to find out who wrote it. And I thought it might be you. One day Kari came up to me and told me that she liked me and asked me if I could be her boyfriend. I was shocked when she asked me that. I asked her if she’s the one who wrote the note and she said yes. I agreed to be her boyfriend because I didn’t want to break her heart, cause when she asked me I looked into her eyes, her eyes were sincere, just like yours. And because I thought she wrote the notes and I felt that I have to thank her. So, we became a couple. But one day we got into a big argument, and at the end she said that she hated me and never want see me again, I was so angry and I said fine. Then she ran off with tears in her eyes, when she was crossing the street she didn’t see this big truck heading towards her, and then the truck hit her………I was shocked, I sent her to the hospital as soon as I could, but still it was too late………I’m the one who should feel guilty Yolei, not you. You didn’t betray your friends cause I didn’t like Kari at the first place. I realized that Kari had lied to me when I found a note on my locker after she died, and I still keep getting notes.”

Yolei listened to his story; she was so surprised that she didn’t know what to say. Just then she heard somebody was calling her.

“Yolei………” Yolei jerked her head up, her eyes wide with happiness in them.

“Ten………Tenshi………Tenshi! Where are you Tenshi!” Yolei asked.

“I’m up here Yolei………” Yolei and Ken both looked up above their head. Their eyes went wide, and their mouths were wide open as well. They stayed there in silence for a while, couldn’t find their voice to speak.

“Tenshi………No………Kari………Kari! Is that you Kari?” Yolei finally found her voice and asked in disbelieve. They saw a girl with short brown hair and a pair of big red eyes and with pure white wings at her back. She sat on a branch of a tell tree. Sunlight was shinning on her face, and she smiled brightly at them. She looked just like an angel.

“Yes Yolei, it’s me.” Tenshi, which was Kari, replied. Ken and Yolei both gasped.

“Ken………I’m sorry I lied to you about the notes. I didn’t mean to, I just wanted to be with you. Well………I guess this is destiny. Please don’t feel guilty anymore, my death has nothing to do with you.” She said as she smiled brightly at Ken. Then she turned to Yolei.

“Yolei………I had always knew you like Ken, but I pretended I didn’t know and confessed to Ken anyway. I’m sorry Yolei. I hope you could forgive me. Please, don’t feel bad, be happy, for me.” Yolei nodded slowly. Kari smiled at her.

“Now, I have completed my mission here, so I can go back to where I belong………Ken, Yolei, I wish for you guys would last forever and happy forever. Farewell my friends………farewell………” with that Kari disappeared in the sunlight. A single feather float down from the sky, and landed in Yolei’s hand. Yolei looked at the feather, tears ran down from her eyes. She moved the feather towards her lips and gently placed a kiss on it, and the feather disappeared into the air.

“Good bye Kari………and thank you………”

~*~*~*~*~

The next morning Yolei woke up from the sunlight. She rubbed her eyes with her hand. She sat up from the bed, and her eyes found the basket on the floor. She stared at the basket blankly recalled what had happened in the passed few weeks.

‘Was it all just a dream?’

She got dressed quickly and had her breakfast before leaving for school. She opened the door of her house, she was surprised by who she saw, Ken.

“Good morning.” Ken greeted with a smile on his face.

“ Go………good morning.” Yolei blushed a little.

“Wanna go to school together?”

“Su………sure.” Her face got ever redder. Ken took her hands in his and they walked hand in hand towards the school.

‘Even though it was………’

‘I will treasure it………’

‘Because………it was given by an angel………’
