Here’s To The Night Disclaimer:: I don’t own anyone or anything. I do NOT own the rights to Here’s to the Night by the wonderful band Eve 6. (Bummer, I wish I owned Treize and Une!) <>= Song lyrics Author’s Summery:: Treize has to go into battle, and Une’s feeling really bad. Treize feels guilty, and decides to come back half way through the battle. <So denied> Lady Une sniffled and fell asleep, again. She had had the flu for a few weeks. Treize smiled and sat down next to her. <So I lied> Treize had been lying to her the night before. He had told her she was looking better, but she was really getting worse. She was really quite pale and ill looking. <Are you the now-or-never kind? > Treize kissed her forehead and lay down next to her. She snuggled down in the sheets, her beautiful, thick hair was spread about on her pillow, like a beautiful Chinese fan made of brown silk. <In a day, and a day love> Treize felt Lady Une stir under the sheets. She sat up suddenly and looked at him. “You have to go into battle, don’t you?” Her voice broke as she began to cry. Treize took her in his arms and held her close. “Shhh, I’m sorry, darling. I have to. I swear, if you are feeling truly horrible in the morning, I will not go.” Lady Une looked away from him, pulling out of his arms at the same time. “That’s just another one of your false promises!!!” Treize looked down. “Would it make you feel better if I told you how much I care for you??” <I’m gonna be gone for good again> Lady Une had fallen asleep again. She was laying on the floor in her white nightie. Treize picked her up in his arms and kissed her forehead. She lay on the bed, her beautiful face pale. Her kissed her once again—this time on the lips—and walked out of the bedroom. <Here’s a toast to all those who hear me all too well….> Treize poured himself a glass of wine and sipped a toast to Lady Une. “Darling, here’s to you. I’ll think of your face as I go into battle today.” Treize dumped the rest of the wine down the drain and placed the delicate glass on the counter. He went out to his car and drove off to his storage unit where he kept Tallgese II. <Here’s to the nights we felt alive> Treize powered up his mobile suit—Tallgese II—and went up to the battle site. Halfway through the battle, Lady Une’s pale face popped into Treize’s mind. My darling. Oh, god I feel so guilty. I’m coming back to you! Treize killed the engine on the Tallgese model and put it back into the storage shed. He drove back to the house. <Here’s to the tears you knew you’d cry> Lady Une woke up and looked over at Treize’s side of the bed. He had gone, after all. Treize, why did you lie to me?? Why?? Her lips formed the silent words she couldn’t speak. Just then, she heard a car pull up in the driveway. Lady Une put a rose scented kimono on and went down stairs silently. Treize was just coming in the door and saw her standing there, her pale face streaked with tears. <Here’s to goodbye, tomorrow’s gonna come too soon…> Treize ran silently over to her and kissed her face over and over again. Lady Une pulled away from him and started to sob uncontrollably. Treize took her in his arms again. “Darling, oh, God. I never meant to leave. Oh, God, will you ever forgive me!” Lady Une looked up at him and mouthed the words her voice could no longer say, yes. Treize I love you! Treize read her lips carefully and kissed her again. “Darling, I love…you.” <Put your name, on the line Along with place and time> Lady Une snuggled close to Treize as she lay sleeping. He covered her slim body with his arms and held her close. Treize smiled and stood up. Lady Une grabbed his wrist and murmured, her lips forming the words she couldn’t speak, Treize don’t leave me! Treize kissed her. “I’m just going to the next room. Don’t worry. I’m not even thinking about leaving your side.” Lady Une looked up at him, her eyes silently pleading him not to leave her for a fate unknown. <Want to stay, not to go I wanna ditch the logical> Treize returned to their room in a few moments. Lady Une was standing by the window, watching the rain as it poured down. Treize walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “Lady, will you marry me??” Lady Une turned around to “read” Treize’s posture. She nodded and rested her head on his shoulder. “How’s your throat…. Never mind darling.” Lady Une looked up at him, her dark eyes searching his face for answers as to why she couldn’t speak. <Here’s a toast to all those who hear me all too well…> Treize brought up two glasses of wine. He handed her one as he kissed her. “Here’s to you, my lady love.” Lady Une mouthed, here’s to you, Treize, my true love. Treize held her close to him, feeling her hair against his neck as she slowly, almost reluctantly fell asleep. <Although time has froze in motion> Treize was reluctant to let her go. He didn’t want to let her out of his arms. Lady Une stood against his tall, slender form as she slept. Treize lay her down on the bed, placing her glass of wine on the bedside table. He sat down next to her, stroking her long thick brown hair. To Treize as he sat next to his beloved, it seemed as if time has frozen in motion, capturing them in a masterpiece of a painting. <Can’t I stay an hour or two or more? > Lady Une woke and leaned her head against Treize’s chest. Treize kissed her forehead and held her closer to his bare chest. She started to fall asleep. Treize kissed her and fell asleep, holding her in his arms. < Don’t let me let you go > The next morning, Lady Une woke up in Treize’s strong arms. He was already awake and waiting with her morning kiss. She looked up at him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Treize swooped down on her, covering her face with rains of kisses, until she started giggling madly. “How’s your throat this morning darling??” Lady Une bit her lip and looked up at her lover. “It’s getting better.” Treize kissed her again and held her close. <Here’s a toast to all those who knew me all too well…> She was soon asleep again. Treize smiled, knowing that it was definitely a good sign that she was getting better. My darling, thou hast better get better soon. Her thick hair was finally starting to get back its luster. <Here’s to the nights we felt alive> Before she had fallen ill, they had never even told each other of their love. It had all been kept inside. Now that she was on the road to recovery, they finally admitted to themselves and each other how much each needed the other. (Whew!! That’s a confusing sentence, ne?) <Here’s to the tears we knew you’d cry, Here’s to good-bye tomorrow’s gonna come to soon> Yet, even as Treize sat on the edge of the bed, watching her sleep, he knew tomorrow would come all too soon, and with that, another day away from her. |
