Angels Don’t own anybody or the rights to Angels. Lady Une sat on Treize’s narrow hospital. He’s so peaceful. He’s got such nice features. Treize had been in a coma for five months now. “All rise for his Excellency, Treize Khushrenada.” Treize-sama? Treize walked over to his chosen, nodding to everyone, he passed. “There’s no need for that, Paygen.” Treize rested his hand on his chosen’s arm. “May I have this dance?” The young woman nodded and stood up. “You’re still gorgeous, Lady.” Lady Une blushed. That night was only a slim memory to Treize as he lay in a coma. “There are dreams of a better future, my love.” Lady Une nodded, her brown hair falling in her face. “Many of your most loyal soldiers are saying they’re going over to the Barton Foundation.” Treize nodded and grew angry. Lady, sensing his anger, began to sing softly. “You spend all your time waiting for that second chance. For a break that would make it o.k. There’s always some reason….” “To feel not good enough. And it’s hard at the end of the day. I need some distraction or a beautiful release.” Treize woke up to singing. “Memories seep from my veins and leave me empty oh! and weightless and maybe I’ll find some peace tonight. In the arms of the angel, fly away from here. From this dark cold hotel room and the endlessness that you fear.” “ Lady?” The singing continued. “You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie. In the arms of the angel may you find some comfort here.” Treize fought to sit up and look at the mysterious singer. “Lady?” “Treize-sama, you’re finally awake.” “How long have you been singing, love?” Lady Une cleared her throat. “Since you were found and brought here. You’ve been sleeping for five months, sir.” Treize touched her hand. A doctor stepped in and saw Treize sitting halfway up. “Oh good. Uh…. Ms. Une?” Lady Une looked up sharply. “Could I ask you to leave for a few moments?” Lady Une nodded and went over to Starbucks to get a café latte. She walked back into the room to find Treize dressed. “Shall we go, love?” Lady Une yawned sleepily and nodded. “Did you use my car, love?” “Yes. I had gotten the call at your house.” Treize nodded and held his hand out for the keys. Lady Une tossed them over to him and took a sip from her coffee. Treize stood up and walked over to Lady Une as she slept. She’s so peaceful when she’s sleeping. There’s no evidence of her schizophrenia when she sleeps. Lady Une woke up and looked at him. “You’re beautiful, honey.” Lady Une smiled. “Thank you, sir.” “Lady, please spare me the formalities.” Treize rested his hand on her shoulder and kissed her. Lady Une turned away. Treize drove back to his house. Lady Une slept the whole way there. She’s been singing day and night since I was brought to the hospital. She knows how much I love hearing her sing. She’s got such a pretty voice. Lady Une woke up just as they pulled into the driveway of the Khushrenada Estate. Treize stepped out of the car and opened Lady Une’s door. Lady Une stepped out and had to lean on Treize while she regained her balance. Treize took her in his arms and kissed her. He could taste the lady’s exhaustion. Love, I’ll let you rest. You’ve been singing non-stop, day and night, for the five months that I’ve been sleeping. Treize looked down at the lady as she blinked to keep herself from falling asleep. As soon as they were in the house, Lady Une finally succumbed to her exhaustion and collapsed. Treize carried her up to the bedroom they once again would share and laid her on the bed. Lady Une stretched and walked over to Treize. Treize pulled her into his arms and kissed her face affectionately, like a brother would. “Lady, promise me you’ll never join with the likes of Sally Po or Lucrezia Noin, those pagans.” “I promise, sir. How I came to be what I was to Noin is a mystery to me.” Treize pulled away from her and then kissed her again, more avidly. “I love you Late Rose.” “And I, thee, sir.” Treize held her close to his body as she fell asleep against him. Treize watched her as she slept as he once did so many months ago. Has her schizophrenia gone? Is she my precious Anna once again? I miss my Anna. She was so quiet and passionate, never afraid to show her feelings. Lady Une, Late Rose, slowly woke from her dreams. “Anna?” Lady Une threw her arms around Treize and buried her face in his shoulder. He held her close and suddenly felt a warm liquid on his shoulder. Is my love crying? Oh Anna. Treize fought to hold back tears as he gently brushed Anna’s hair away from her face. She soon was asleep in his arms. Treize creased his brow. Have I held her like this before? In such close quarters? Yes, I have. When I scolded her about dating Lucrezia. She was my Late Rose. Is she still both my Anne and my Late Rose? He gently laid her against the pillows and kissed her face. “Good-night, my Late Rose, my Anna.” Lady Une murmured something sleepily and snuggled closer to the warmth of Treize’s body. Treize lay down beside her and held her in his arms. Lady Une lay sleeping serenely, even though she was laying in the throes of a nightmare. A strange figure was walking towards her, trying to kiss her. “No! I am faithful! I will never desert my true love!” The figure walked closer, trying to hold her in his arms and kiss her. “No!” Lady Une started to run, faster and faster until she reached the Khushrenada Estate, where she knew she would find sanctuary. Treize was standing at the gate and took her in his arms. He carried the motionless woman into the house and laid her on the couch. In his laxity, he left the gate open and the figure was able to get in. Once the figure was in the light, Treize was able to see his face. “Milliardo, what are you thinking?? Lady Une and I are to be married in three days. She no longer loves you. Remember what she said. ‘No! I am faithful! I will never leave my true love!’ She is faithful to me. I love her.” Lady Une woke up, her eyes feral. Treize sat down and gently spoke to her. Lady Une sat up, with her eyes closed. “No. Please…. NO!” Treize gently kissed her. “It’s all right dearest, it’s all right. Just go back to sleep. Everything’s going to be all right.” Lady Une rested her head on Treize’s shoulder. He softly stroked her hair. Milliardo knocked gently on the bedroom door. “Anna?” Treize stood up and walked over to the door. “Milliardo, what are you doing here?” “I came to see Anna.” “She’s asleep. She was up too much for five months. Please, come back to-morrow.” “All right.” Anna woke up leisurely on the bed. Treize walked over to her and kissed her brow. “Just rest, little one. It’s all right.” Treize sat down on the bed and began to sing—the exact same song Anna had sung before he woke up. “You spend all your time waiting for that second chance. For a break that would make it o.k., there’s always some reason, to feel not good enough and it’s hard at the end of the day. I need some distraction or a beautiful release. Memories seep from my veins and leave me empty oh and weightless and maybe we’ll find some peace tonight. In the arms of the angels, fly away from here. From this dark cold hotel room and the endless nights that you fear. You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie. In the arms of the angel, may you find some comfort here. So tired of the straight lines and everywhere you turn, there’s vultures and thieves at your back. The storm keeps on twistin', you keep on buildin' the lies that you make up for all that you lack. Don’t make no difference. Escape them one last time. It’s easier to believe. End this sweet madness…oh this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees. In the arms of the angel, fly away from here. From this dark cold hotel room and the endless nights that you fear. You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie. In the arms of the angel…may you find some comfort here.” Lady Une was sound asleep in Treize’s arms by the time he finished the song. Treize gently kissed her pale forehead as she slept quietly. Goodnight, dear one. The next day, Milliardo came back, asking to see Anna again. He was told she was still asleep. “Are you sure she isn’t in a coma, Treize?” “I’m positive, Milliardo. She’s just exhausted.” Anna woke up on the bed. “Sir?” “Shh, Anna. It’s all right. You can go back to sleep if you want to.” Milliardo blinked. What’s this? Treize actually cares for the opposite sex?? I…I can’t believe this is happening! Treize is in love with Lady Une! The lesbian bitch! Milliardo frowned, his level brow creasing for a moment. “Treize?” “What, Milliardo?” “Lady Une’s a lesbian.” Lady Une struggled to hold back a retort, her skin turning white. “Milliardo I am not a lesbian. What ever I meant to Lucrezia Noin is a mystery to me. And you---you are a bastard in every sense of the word! Born out of matrimony!” Treize pulled Lady Une closer to him. “Lady, calm down. Please, don’t agitate your self.” Milliardo cringed at Lady Une’s remarks. “It’s true. I was born out of matrimony. I am a bastard. And a damn handsome one at that! Treize, I love you. Will you marry me?” “No. I plan to marry my lady in three weeks.” Milliardo was taken aback. “Treize, you don’t mean to tell me….” “Yes, I do, Milliardo Peacecraft. Did you even come once to see me while I was in a coma? NO! She was the only one that remains true to me, even singing when she knew perfectly well that the doctors believed that it wouldn’t bring me out of a coma. And yet she sang, purely because she knew how much I loved to hear her sing.” Milliardo stared at Treize. “I DEPLORE YOU KHUSHRENADA!!!” Lady Une looked up. “Treize…. what’s going on?” “Shh, dearest. You relax. I’ll deal with Señor Peacecraft now.” Lady Une nodded and lay back against the pillows. Her eyes were soon closed in peaceful relaxation. “Milliardo, you and your churlish behaviour need to leave. I will not have you arousing my love…not after she’s been keeping vigil by my bedside and singing for five months. Depart.” Milliardo nodded and left. “Good-bye, forever Khushrenada.” Treize bent over the young woman who lay sleeping next to him on the bed. He smiled, and kissed her cautiously on the lips. “My darling, I will let no evil befall you. I will not weaken in that promise.” She woke and the forlornness in her eyes surprised him. “Treize, you don’t know how much that means to me. When I was little…like five or six, I saw my father vilify my mother… and then at the end of all that, he divorced her…our whole family was defaced. But I know my father still loves me.” Treize stroked her thick brown hair. “And your mother?” “She was reduced to being a mendicant. She’s now insane and doesn’t recognize me.” Treize hugged the young woman close to his chest. He so frantically wanted to soothe her pain. Lady Une turned away from Treize and started to cry at the thoughts of her mother in the mental institution. Treize took her in his arms with trepidation…. he didn’t want to hurt her any further. The next day, they received a dire threat in the mail. Some one was going to set fire to the Khushrenada Estate they were at (1568 SW Paris, France). Treize was a great handwriting analyst and asked Lady Une for a sample of her father’s handwriting. It matched with the handwriting on the letter. “Late Rose, why would your father want to kill us?” “My father wrote the letter?” “Yes, my Rose.” “Write back and tell him that he has no right to do this to me after what he did to my mother. Please, Treize. You don’t know how important that is to me.” Treize retrieved a sheet of rose stationary from his desk and began to write. Four hours later, Treize called Lady Une back into the room. “Ana?” “Yes, Treize?” “How does this sound?” “It sounds fine, my lord.” “Ohh, Lady, I thought we were over that.” Lady Une simply smiled and walked out. Treize quickly placed the letter in an envelope—the same pattern was on it as the stationary, and mailed it. He quickly walked out of the room and went to look for Ana. He found her in the bedroom where she was sleeping serenely on the bed. Oh darling…how I love you. Treize smiled and left. Lady Une woke up just as he was leaving. “Treize….” “Yes, my love?” “Nothing… I forgot what I was going to say.” Treize smiled. “Ana, would you like a bath…or maybe a massage?” Ana closed her eyes. “A bath would be nice, if it was with you.” Her beautiful eyes flew open at the touch of Treize’s hand on her shoulder. “It’s all right, darling.” Treize slowly walked to the bathroom and began to mix a warm bath for Ana and him. The dark-haired young woman started to undress when Treize came in. She bent over to hide her front from him. “Honey, it’s all right. It’s not like I’ve never seen you naked it before.” Ana sighed and slipped back into her rose kimono. She was extremely gorgeous. Treize picked her up in his arms and carried her into the bathroom. Ana slipped out of the kimono and sank down into the warm bath. Her eyes were closed and she appeared to be sleeping. Treize had some rose scents in his room and he quickly retrieved it for the bath. He gently dumped some into the bath and smiled. Ana was still sleeping. Treize slid down into the bath next to her. Ana woke slightly when Treize slid in, but returned back to her deep dream-filled sleep. There was a knock on the door. Treize stood up and wrapped his towel around his waist. “Who is it?” “Sir, a Milliardo Peacecraft is demanding to speak to you.” “Tell him I will not speak to him. I told him four hours ago to leave my house forever. I no longer acknowledge him as a friend of my family, or of my fiancé.” “ Yes, sir.” The servant left and Treize could hear Milliardo yelling at the servant. Ana was still sleeping. Her beautiful brown eyes were closed, and she didn’t waken when Treize lifted her from the now-cold waters of the bathtub. Treize gently wrapped her in one of the fluffy white bath towels. Her long brown hair he wrapped loosely into another towel. He carried her out into the bedroom and laid her on the bed. The only movement Anna made when she was laid down was to stretch her full length, and then resume slumbering. Treize smiled and went down to get some wine. While he was down stairs, Ana slid off the bed and quickly dressed She couldn’t allow him to find out her secret. She pulled her long thick hair up into a loose bun and slipped into a burgundy dress she had bought years ago. Today was the day her niece, Mia, was going to come visit. There was a knock on the door. She heard Treize’s startled gasp as a 21-year-old woman asked to see “Aunt Une.” Treize ran up the stairs. “Ana, there’s a 21-year-old downstairs insisting you’re her aunt.” “That’s because I am. I’m her mother’s sister.” Treize looked puzzled. “And who was your sister?” “Samantha Une-Iscantarou.” “Une-Iscantarou?” “Yes, Une from our mother’s first marriage. Iscantarou from the second marriage.” “ And who’s the girl’s father?” “ Heero Yuy.” “ WHAT! MY BROTHER HAD A KID AND I DDIN’T HEAR ABOUT IT???” “ Treize, you don’t have to yell. Now let me go talk to niece Mia.” Treize bowed his head. Ana walked downstairs. “Aunt Une!” “Hello, Mia. How are you today?” “ I’m fine.” “ And your mother?” Mia’s eyes lowered. “My mother died yesterday.” Une gasped. “She did?” “Yes. She had been sick with cancer.” “ Are you still living at home, Mia?” “ No. I’ve moved in with my fiancé, Paul.” “ That’s good.” “ Who was that man who answered the door?” “ That’s my fiancé, Treize. I didn’t tell him about you. I wanted to scare him.” Mia smiled, her Japanese features becoming more diminutive “How’s your father, your sisters, and your brother holding up?” “They’re fine and dandy. My dad’s at home arranging for my mother’s funeral, my sisters are all married off and have a bunch of kids, my brother is studying journalism at Harvard, and my fiancé and I are studying law at Harvard.” Une smiled. “That’s good. Are you still training in the martial arts?” “ Yes.” Une smiled. “How good are you?” “Black belt status in everything.” “Wow!” Treize came down stairs. “Ana, I need to speak to you, dear.” “What is it, Treize?” “Um, I can’t say it in front of your niece.” Mia leaned over towards her aunt. “Want me to try out some of my new moves?” Une nodded. Mia quickly uttered a word in Japanese, and she was instantly in her day fighting uniform. Treize’s eyes widened and then quickly shut with pain as Mia nailed him in the balls. “Uggghhhggghhhgghhhghghgh.” Mia smirked, her eyes sloping upwards. “I’ll see you later, Aunt Une. My fiancé is expecting me home at 5:30 for dinner. We’re going out to eat. ^-^” Mia turned and walked out to her Ford Explorer. Treize opened his eyes slightly. “Is she gone?” “Yes, but I can call her back if you get fresh with me dear.” “You wouldn’t.” “I would.” “You couldn’t.” “I could.” “You shouldn’t!” “I should!” Treize panicked and looked around for an escape route in case Une waxed dangerous on him. Une smirked. “Treize, you know I would never sic a family member on you.” Ana slowly walked back upstairs, taking her hair from the loose bun she had put it up in. Treize followed her up. She paused in the doorway of her bedroom and looked behind her. Treize smiled softly at her. She nodded and disappeared. Treize was tempted to go into the bedroom after her, but knew she wanted her privacy. Ana rested her head on the cold counter of the vanity. Mia’s be come so strong. I’m proud of her. She’s come into her powers. She slowly closed her eyes and moaned, feeling ill. Treize came in and kissed her. “Ana, what’s wrong?” “Oh, Treize, I feel so sick to my stomach. It’s so painful to even stand up.” “Darling, just lay down. Can you walk?” She winced & shook her head. “I’ll carry you my dearest.” Treize picked her up, noticing how light she felt. She moaned again, her body shaking. “Darling, just get some rest.” She looked up at him, her eyes swollen. “Treize??”” “Just rest, my love.” Ana fell asleep in his arms. Treize smiled and kissed her pale face. Ana looked up at him from heavily lidded eyes. “It’s all right. Just go back to sleep.” A few minutes later, the phone rang. It was Ana’s doctor. She had to tell Ana something. Treize gently woke his sleeping fiancé. When she heard the news from her doctor, she smiled and thanked the doctor. Once she hung up, Treize looked quizzically at her. “What was that all about?” “I’m pregnant, Treize.” “REALLY??” “Yes.” “That means we need to move the wedding up a couple of weeks.” “Yes.” Treize kissed her face gently. She bowed her head. Since the invitations hadn’t been made yet, the couple wrote out what they wanted them to say and submitted it to the engraver with an order for seven of them. Mia, of course, would definitely be attending. It was just going to be a small, private wedding. Of course, with Ana being pregnant, they weren’t able to hold a rehearsal for it. Once the wedding was over, Ana had to be taken to the hospital. She was going into early labor. Treize, of course, was by her side, watching her as she lay there. Her slender body was wreaked with horrible pain. By the time she was out of labor, she was horribly pale. Once the doctor laid their tiny daughter in her arms, she was totally unconscious from the pain. Treize kissed their daughter on the forehead. “By the Charter that brings us all together, the Charter that binds us all, I give you the name of—“ Treize looked up. “Céleste Irene.” A few days later, Lady Ana & Céleste were able to go home. Ana, however, was still quite weak & ill. Treize would have to make sure she ate something every hour so she would be able to care for her daughter. A month later, Treize got a call from his uncle. He was needed in space. When Treize heard it, he flatly refused. His reason was that his wife had just gotten out of the hospital and he need to take care of her. Ana had woken briefly during the phone conversation, but Treize had smiled at her to reassure her that every thing was all right. She had nodded and fallen back asleep. Once Une had recovered, Treize started to notice that she was starting to wear a lot of his baggy t-shirts. He also noticed that she started to wake up before him so she could shower alone. One morning, Treize woke with the dawn to watch his wife sleep. But it turned out that she had all ready gotten into the shower. Once she was out and dressed, Treize asked why she was waking up so early and why she was wearing baggy shirts. “Treize, have you ever reached for me in the night and felt lumps where my shoulder blades are?” Treize thought for a moment. “Yes. But why?” “Well, let me put it this way. I’m an angel, sent down from heaven to care for people. In a former life, I was harsh, cruel, evil to the point where I was about an inch away from being sent to hell. Then I was nearly killed and discovered God. They thought I would recover, but I never did, and thus I died. Once I reached Heaven, the Lord told me I would need to earn my wings by caring for you and your relations. Including Mia, and the G. Pilots. It wasn’t easy. You know I became schizophrenic. That’s because of the hardships of trying to earn my wings. Now, I have earned them. It’s been a difficult road. I’ve been trying to hide it from you beneath your shirts. But now, I suppose it is time for me to be truly revealed.” Une took off the shirt. Treize was amazed at the slenderness of his wife and at her strength. “Aren’t they heavy, my love?” “No. They’re made out of dove feathers. Why would they be heavy?” Ana smiled, flapped her wings experimentally once. Her eyes closed and she was at peace forever (for anybody who’s dense: at peace forever=she be dead!!!). Treize looked at her body. I shall bury her in the rose garden. I know how much she loved the roses. Céleste seemed to notice that her mother wasn’t there. She gurgled unhappily from her crib. Treize picked the child up and kissed her forehead. The tiny Charter mark there glowed so brightly that Treize was blinded. He soon realized his daughter was dead. Mia came over, knowing her uncle was now blind. “Treize?” “Yes, Mia?” “Where would you like me to bury your wife and daughter?” “In the rose garden, Mia. Ana loved it there.” “Would you like her to be buried holding her daughter?” “Yes.” Tears of sadness ran down the elder man’s cheeks. He lay down on his bed and suffocated himself. Mia sensed that he was also dead, so she ordered a double rosewood coffin. Once she had laid her aunt and uncle in the coffin, with her cousin on top of her mother’s breast, she left. End. *All right, here I am, again, but I think this is where this fic will end because I’m really sick of it & getting mad at it. Plus, I have a hamster crawling on my pants that belongs to my sister and I’m supposed to be watching him. Lady Khris. * |
