"Valentine"

A Mini-Fanfic

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jax and Chloe stepped out of the elevator. Chloe had finally been released from the hospital, just in time for Valentine's Day, and Jax was going to do everything he could to help Chloe get better. Jax had his arm around Chloe's waist and held her hand as he guided her toward the door. Once inside, Chloe could sense that Jax was up to something-something romantic.
Jax led Chloe to the couch. "Alright, sit here. I've got a surprise for you."
"A surprise?"
"Three actually. I have three gifts for you." Chloe blushed. "It's not my birthday."
"Well, this is for Valentine's day."
"Oh, Jax! I didn't get you anything."
Jax took Chloe's hand. "Chloe, you have already given me everything I want, and everything I want is right in this room. Chloe, did you know what I went through? I was so scared when I saw you lying in that hospital bed hooked up to all of that beeping machinery. I thought I was going to lose you, and I don't think I could have handled that. I love you, Chloe."
Chloe blushed. "Oh, Jax," she said softly, "I love you too." Jax then put his hands on Chloe's face and pulled her in for a soft, tender kiss on the lips.
"So, you said you had three surprises for me?"
Jax laughed. "Yes. Okay, here is your first surprise." On the table was a vase full of red roses. Jax picked one out and brushed the petals across Chloe's cheek and under her nose. Chloe took the rose, touching the long stem and feeling the softness of the petals against her fingers.
"It's a rose." Chloe smelled it. "What color is it?"
"It's red. In fact, there is a whole vase of these red roses right here on this table. They remind me of the roses I bought for you that day we danced in Central Park."
Chloe smiled. "I'm sure they're beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you, though."
Chloe felt like she could just melt. Was it possible that a man could be this romantic?
"Alright, for your next surprise, I'm going to need you to open your mouth."
Chloe was confused and somewhat hesitant. "You're not going to try to trick me and put something disgusting in my mouth are you?"
Jax laughed. "No, no, no, you'll love this, I promise."
Chloe slowly opened her mouth, not sure of what to expect. For all she knew, Jax was about to make her eat a piece of moose meat.
Jax opened a box that was on the table beside the flowers. It was a box of Chloe's favorite chocolate from Brussels. He took out a piece and put it into her mouth.
Chloe literally felt weak in the knees when she realized what it was. "Mmm, Jax." Chloe couldn't say anything more; she could only make those "mmm" noises. Jax laughed.
"Do you want another one?"
"Mmm-hmm."
Jax selected another chocolate and put half of it in his mouth. Then, he leaned forward and let Chloe bite the other half until their lips met in a chocolate kiss.
"Didn't I tell you that you would love that surprise?"
Chloe nodded her head.
"Okay, surprise number three. Hold out your hands."
Chloe held out her hands, palms up, and Jax placed a small cardboard box in it.
"A box?"
"It's actually what's inside the box."
Chloe removed the lid and reached inside the box, pulling out some cotton in the process. She then found the object and took it out. Feeling the object around with her fingers, it was obvious what it was.
"It's a key. Jax, I don't understand."
"Well, you see, this is the key to the penthouse."
"You're giving me a key to your penthouse?"
"I was thinking that maybe it wouldn't be just my penthouse anymore." Jax then took her hands. "I want you to move in with me, Chloe. I want to be able to hold you and make love to you all night long. I want to wake up every morning with you beside me in my arms. I know that we are still married to other people and we have Gertrude to deal with, but Chloe, I don't want to wait. If you being in the hospital has taught me anything, it is that every moment I spend with you is so precious, and I don't want to waste a moment of that time we have away from you. I know you probably want some time to think about it, but-"
"Yes."
"Yes, you need more time to think about it?"
"No, Jax, that's my answer. My answer is yes! I want to live you."
"Chloe! This is wonderful! Do you know how happy you have just made me?"
"I wish I could see your face."
Jax took her hands and put them on his face, and Chloe smiled. She felt around until she found his lips, and she leaned forward to kiss him.
Jax then stood up and scooped her up. He headed for the bedroom.
"Wait!" Chloe exclaimed. "My chocolate!"
"Oh, we can't forget that!" Jax laughed and picked up the box.
"Right, because chocolate is my second favorite thing."
"You mean chocolate was actually bumped to number 2?"
"It was the day you came along."
Jax smiled and kissed her lips once more before carrying her off to the bedroom to make love to her.
