As Sailor Mars, she sometimes tends to be a little temperamental, sometimes attacking the enemy first before the others. She was the fourth Scout to be found by Luna.
During the Silver Millennium, Rei was the princess of the planet Mars. When Queen Beryl invaded, Rei was given the power of Sailor Mars. She was killed during the last battle in the war against Beryl, at the hands of the combined power of the seven Shadow Warriors, and reborn in the present.
Rei has a major temper, which comes out whenever she gets angry or annoyed. That seems to happen quite often around Usagi. Though Usagi and Rei fight often, it’s more like the kind of bickering that sisters get into, rather than two people who dislike each other. She goes to TA Private Girls’ School, a private, Catholic, girls-only school. Rei also has certain abilities related to her Shinto religion, such as reading fires and receiving visions.
Rei also has a few other talents, such as poetry and singing. During her school’s festival, she sang songs that she wrote herself in front of the whole school. One of her songs was a duet that she managed to talk Ryoku into accompanying her with, much to his chagrin and reluctance.
Rei works and lives in her grandfather’s Hikawa Shrine. She is a Shinto priestess-in-training and stands to inherit the shrine from her grandfather in the future. However, she hopes that that time will be far in the future. She isn’t the only person besides her grandfather to take care of the temple; there's also Kumada Yuuichirou, a young man who came to her shrine to train to become a priest, and who has a slight crush on her. Rei isn’t sure as to whether or not she likes him enough to actually date him, but you never know….
Sailor Mars’ items:
Her transformation wand is what allows her to transform into Sailor Mars. Her transformation wand was upgraded from her old pen by Luna and Artemis.
She has several ofuda – strips of paper with anti-evil wards written on them. These scrolls are used to banish or paralyze evil.
She has a communicator which allows her to call the others when needed. Her new communicator is shaped as a wristwatch.

Rin… Pyou… Tou… Sha… Kai… Jin… Retsu… Sai… Zen… Evil spirit, begone!: This is what Rei chants when she uses her ofuda.
Fire Soul: This produces a large fireball which she throws at an enemy.
Fire Soul Bird: The most powerful of her first-level attacks. Sailor Mars’ fireball takes the shape of a bird, then dives at an enemy, striking with great force.
Burning Mandala: Sailor Mars summons several rings of flame which she fires at an enemy. These rings are also razor sharp.
