As Sailor Jupiter, she has a gung-ho mentality and is always ready for a fight. She is also one of the strongest Sailor Scouts in both physical strength and power. She was the fifth Scout to be found by Luna.
During the Silver Millennium, Makoto was the princess of the planet Jupiter. When Queen Beryl invaded, Makoto was given the power of Sailor Jupiter. She was killed during the last battle in the war against Beryl, at the hands of the combined power of the seven Shadow Warriors, and reborn in the present.
Makoto is a kind and gentle person… that is, until you get her angry at you. She’s a great cook and dreams of becoming a professional chef and owning her own restaurant. Almost every cute guy she sees reminds her of her long-lost senpai – ‘one out of every ten,’ according to her brother. She was transferred from her old school for fighting, the same as her brother. She and her brother live together in the same apartment, since both their parents died in a plane crash years ago. Her brother is the only family she has left.
Makoto is an amazingly excellent ice skater, especially when she pairs up with her brother. She was noticed by a professional Olympic ice skater and was offered the opportunity to become his partner. As it turned out, it was part of a Dark Kingdom plot, but it was still a testament to her amazing skating abilities.
Makoto and her brother share a very strong emotional bond, which has helped each other through the tragedy of losing both their parents. It was this bond that helped pull her brother out of his emotional collapse when Keiko died. She is always hoping that one day her brother will fully recover from his tragedy and become the person she used to know. Now that Ami and Ryoku are dating, Makoto quietly hopes that Ami would be able to bring back her brother from the depths of his despair and return him to his old self again.
