-- by J. T. Baker --

There was a time, as I recall,
Before the world was gray
When every man could dwell in peace
And children safely play;

When counter cultures could converse
Without exchanging blows,
And every man could call his God
By any name he chose;

The strong would then assist the weak,
For every man was kin,
And merit was not measured by
The color of the skin;

Hypocrisy did not exist,
Nor artifice nor scheming . . . .
Was there that time? Do you recall?
Or have I just been dreaming?
