When You Need to Deny Self

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."        Matthew 16:24.


And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.           Luke 14:27,33.


The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.           John 12:25.


For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.       Romans 6:6.


Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation-but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.      Romans 8:12,13.


We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbour for his good, to build him up.      Romans 15:1,2.


As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.   1 Peter 4:2.
