”Personal Log… Pause.” William T. Riker had sat down then stood up. He had the express idea of writing up his personal log but he just couldn’t. “Delete.” He walked out of the apartment.

Personal Log.

Deanna Troi ship’s counselor sat before her console. “Well diary it was another hairy day at the office.  We had to take part in a battle simulation. Will would Captain one ship and Captain Picard would command the Enterprise.

I feared for Will as the USS Hathaway is eighty years old and not in pristine condition!

Anyway before he even got on board he challenged Mr. Culrumi to a game of Stratagem. I have no idea why. The man though thoroughly irritating is a third level Grand Master.  Suffice it to say Will was beat in twenty-three moves.  The highlight for me was that I had to fit him with the finger controls.

I may forget many things as I go through life but the feel of Will Riker will not be one. Holding his hands so as to fit the controls felt so soothing and familiar!  I was surprised. Pathetic I know. But it’s only you and I here and I must confess I felt pleasure at holding his hand. Even though he lost.

Speaking of lost Data also lost to the Grand Master. Now that shocked me.  Apparently it did Data as well as he crawled into his quarters and only an order from the Captain got him out in time for the simulation.

Then there was the simulation itself.  Having all but handed Will on a plate to Data as we analyzed what his strategy would be I moved into an inconspicuous position so as to what my Imzadi would do.

I watched in horror as the Frengie threaten the Hathaway then heard Culrumi tell the Captain that the away team was expendable.  Expendable!  The love of my life is on that ship and he wants us to abandon him and our friends!?  Luckily the Captain is made of sterner stuff and we got them back.

It took all the discipline I had not to run to him. One day I will have to tell him that I love him still.

Oh by the way Data had a rematch with the Grand Master and the little smug twit surrendered! HA!

Riker returned to his apartment and faced the computer,

Personal Log…. There was but only two significant moments of import this week. The first was the game of Stratagem with Mr. Culrumi.

Gerodi had no idea what motivated me to challenge a man who was obviously superior to me in that game. At first I didn’t know either.  Then Deanna held my hand to place the controls and I knew why.  The least of which was the feel of her hand in mine.

Why are we apart again? Oh yes work. Bah humbug!

I suppose I wanted to show off to her. She knew I’d loose. I knew I’d loose hell even Culrumi knew I’d loose but there I was doing it anyway.

Beaten in twenty-three moves!

It was worth it.  After all Deanna came over and commiserated.  I’m a sad case I know.

The second moment came when I seriously contemplated death in the face of those damned Ferengie.  I don’t fear death I just felt that I had not told Deanna what I feel and there I was about to meet my maker and I had not told her that I love her.

One day I must correct that omission.

WTR.
