Personal Log – William T Riker

Ensign Ro Laren the name left a taste of bile in my mouth.  I couldn’t believe that she had orders to board the Enterprise.  So I sort confirmation from the Captain and sure enough after double-checking himself she was to come aboard on the orders of Admiral Kennelly. There are men and women who work hard to be worthy of the Flagship of the Federation and this… this convict is pulled out of the brig and placed on assignment with us!

 

I was fit to burst and still am!

 

I can count on one hand with fingers to spare the number of times I have gone in search of Deanna for her professional skills.  This was one occasion that called for Counselor Troi and not Imzadi.

 

So intense was my rage that she felt me coming. She was expecting me and as I walked in through the door I could see her physically brace herself for the tidal wave of emotion.   Deanna is good at her job. She has to be or she would not have the essential task of Counselor.  Being empathic is but an extra.  Of course having known me in the biblical sense didn’t hurt either.

 

I put her to the test. I couldn’t sit, I couldn’t lie down, I couldn’t stand… I ranted I raved. I sat. I stood.  I was everywhere and nowhere.  And every step of the way she was with me. I don’t know how she does it.  She finally got me coherent then calm and finally to the point where I could function.  None too soon I may add, as the Captain needed me at my best.

 

There was a conspiracy by the Cadassians using an unsuspecting Admiral Kennelly as their pawn to execute a genocidal attack on the Bajorans.  With the help of Ensign Ro the Captain pieced the puzzle together had we avoided another round of war… this time.

 

For posterity I must compliment and thank Counselor Deanna Troi my Imzadi for getting me through this episode. I never imagined that I carried that kind of rage within me.

Personal Log of Deanna Troi.

 

The whole ship was abuzz with the arrival of Ensign Ro.  She had been court-martialed and imprisoned for refusing to obey an order and eight crew died. Now here she was boarding the Enterprise in full uniform about to assume a posting here.

 

The shock then rage on the ship could be felt by all… empathy or not.

 

That rage was personified by the arrival of Will Riker in my office. I could actually feel the rage like a bubble moving ahead of him.  It took all of my training to finally calm him down but I have unique knowledge of the man and applied that to the task as well.

 

I had my own encounter with the notorious Ensign when Beverly and I attempted to be neighborly and got rebuffed.

 

And to think that the Captain sees her as a challenge and wants to keep her on board!

 

Life just went from interesting to dangerous.
