FRIDAY - 1113 LOCAL
JAG HQ, HARM’S OFFICE
“Hey flyboy.” Mac entered Harm’s office and shut the door.
He noted her action. “Hey lover.” He grinned.
She smiled back at him. Except for the Admiral and possibly for hawk eye Harriett no one at the office knew that they had finally come to terms with their relationship and were very much in love. “…need a favour.” She informed him.
“Am I going to like this favour?”
“Probably not… I need you…”
“Ooo I like it already!” He cut across her.
“… to take the deposition in the Warner case.” She didn’t skip a beat.
“The Warner case as in the child pornography case?” He began to squire in his chair.
“Uh huh… I’m sorry to do this but the Admiral has given me another Capitol case to argue. I leave for Leavenworth now.”
“On one condition.”
“She got wary; “Which is…”
“You come straight to me when you get back.”
“I can do that.” She agreed, and then stood, moved over to stand next to him. “In the mean time…” She leaned over and gave him a kiss a as she straightened he stopped her and stole another kiss.
“After all who knows how long you’ll be gone?” He justified the need.
She stopped at the door. “Two things.”
“Yes?”
“Continue to keep the blinds closed as a matter of course and … I love you.” And with that she was gone.
“Aye ma’am.” Harm whispered. “Who am I to disobey an order from the JAG Chief of Staff?”

FRIDAY - 1316 LOCAL
JAG HQ, CONFERENCE ROOM
Harm pushed open the door and stood with his hand glued to it. He could feel the wood begin to sap the blood from him. He told himself that he was a grown man and the holder of two Distinguish Flying Cross Medals. Despite the pep talk he remained glued to the spot. The instinct to run was overwhelming. Where was Mac when he needed her?
“Well Commander are you just going to take my client’s deposition from over there?” Captain Allison Krennick leered at him.
Harm took a deep breath, braced himself and walked in.

FRIDAY - 2317 LOCAL
HARM’S APARTMENT
“The ringing of the phone finally penetrated Harm’s sleep. “Huh?” he mumbled in to the instrument.
“Hell of a way to greet the woman in your life.” Mac’s voice came through.
“Hey beautiful.” He perked up “Why aren’t you here in my bed?” he it the mute button on the TV.
“Cause I’m still here in Kansas. Will be back on Monday.” She explained.
“Monday?!” He wailed. “Why!?”
“Research… how’d the deposition go.” She replied.
“Why didn’t you tell me that Krennick was on this case?” He accused. “Did you know that she is now a Captain?”
“Sorry. It slipped me.” She apologized. “So did you get what I needed?”
“I think so.” He assured her. “I assume that you are still talking about the case?”
She chuckled. “I was… but now that you mention it. Do you have what I need?”
“Let me get comfortable.” He replied.
The conversation was a long one.

MONDAY - 1036 LOCAL
JAG HQ, PARKING LOT
Mac pulled up in the empty spot next to Harm’s corvette. She couldn’t wait to see him. She had needed to stay in Kansas to talk people who were only available over the weekend.
The late night conversations with Harm had only made the separation more acute.
She strode past Harm’s vehicle … she was a few feet away when she stopped dead in her tracks. She turned and retraced her steps.

MONDAY - 1040 LOCAL
Harm spotted Mac as she stood staring at his car and smiled to himself. If that didn’t state his position to the Admiral, Mac, Krennick and JAG then nothing would.

MONDAY - 1040 LOCAL
Mac stood staring at his new number plate. Below the numbers was the statement…
“PROPERTY OF A US MARINE”
THE END.
