ROBERTS' RESIDENCE

Harriett stood in the gloom of the nursery and stared at her sleeping son, leaned over and tucked in a stray hair.  She looked at him then moved over to the window and looked out at the moon.

The night seemed surreal, an extension of an historic albeit horrific week.  A bare two days ago what had begun as a regular day at JAG suddenly went haywire.  She had managed some how to alert the Commander.

[FLASHBACK]

"Sir! There has been a crash at the World Trade Center!"

[END OF FLASHBACK]

She had disappeared before he could draw a second breath.

=======================================

Until the philosophy which

Holds one race superior and another inferior

Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned

Everywhere is War

Me say War

That until there are no longer first class citizens of any nation

Until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes

Me say War

Reserves had been called in, and that included God alone knew how many JAG officers who would be required for the discussing of legalities and causes of action domestically and abroad.  Bud would be in the thick of that, he may even be sent to the front!  She shuddered at the thought.

AJ shifted into a more comfortable position.  Harriett was at the bedside instantly and took no comfort in the fact that though her son was now safe - her husband may not be.

An earlier conversation replayed in her mind...

[FLASHBACK]

"Mikey called." Bud said cautiously.

"He did?" She looked up sensing more to the story.

"His carrier has been ordered to the Atlantic."

[END OF FLASHBACK]

=======================================

That until the basic human rights

Are equally guaranteed to all

Without regard to race

An this say War

And until that day

The dream of lasting peace

World Citizenship

Rule of international morality

Will remain in but a fleeting illusion

To be pursued, but never attained

Now everywhere is War...War

=======================================

"Lord keep him safe," She prayed.

All aspects of life had been upturned.  The WTC attacked, Mikey on the front line and the Admiral gone! And Mac was now the JAG.

[FLASHBACK]

"People effective on the arrival of the new JAG I have been transferred to Capitol Hill." He turned to Mac "just as immediately Colonel MacKenzie here is the Acting JAG."

[END OF FLASHBACK]

Harriett had no idea what the next few days would bring but she prayed that all would be well even as she braced for the worst.
