**********************************

I tell myself what's done is done

I tell myself don't be a fool

Play the field have a lot of fun

It's easy when you play it - cool

I tell myself don't be a chump

Who cares let him stay away

That's when the phone rings

And I jump

=======================================

Mac returned home to the U.S. after that fiasco they called a vacation.  Rejected by Harm and suddenly there she was with Mic's ring.  If forced to in a court of law Mac would swear under oath her evil twin had switched places with her and she knew absolutely NOTHING about a ring from the

Australian.

The phone rang.

=======================================

And as I grab the phone I pray

Let it please be him oh dear God

It must be him

It must be him

Or I shall die

Oh I shall die

=======================================

She waited for the answering machine to trip.  Why?  Who knew?  It was the weekend she needed all her faculties gathered before she went in on Monday.

 It was Mic, long distance - not him.

 "Where did that thought come from?" She mused as she refused to pick up.

 "I am a basket case." She ruffled Jingo's ears.  The ring caught the light and her breath caught.

 "What a mess!"

=======================================

Oh hello hello - my dear God

It must be him

But it's not him

And then I die

That's when I die.

After a while I'm myself again

I pick the pieces off the floor

Put my heart on the shelf again

He'll never hurt me anymore

=======================================

"Suck it up Marine!" She told herself.

 She contemplated the latest hand that life had dealt her.

 Harm had had his chance and declined. Lord knows Mic had been tracking her like some bloodhound from his first day at work.  Maybe it was time to really give this ring thing the benefit of the doubt.  Who knew? Love had sprouted in rockier ground.

 She felt better at the pseudo decision.

 The phone rang.

=======================================

I'm not a puppet on a string

I'll find somebody else some day

That's when the phone rings

And I jump

And once again I start to pray.

=======================================

 As before she waited for the answering machine to trip. She REALLY was in no mood for chitchat.

 It was the mechanic saying the car was ready for collection it was not im.

=======================================

Let it please be him oh dear God

It must be him

It must be him

Or I shall die

Oh I shall die

Oh hello hello - my dear God

It must be him

But it's not him

And then I die

That's when I die.

=======================================

She dropped her head in her hands.  The familiar thumping of a headache was manifesting.

Jingo licked her.

At least one male loves me she grimaced.

The End.
