SET IN THE YEAR 2011
2000 LOCAL
RABB'S RESIDENCE
"The gang of four are finally tucked away." Harm
reported.
"Good."
"Mac?"
"mmm?"
"Thanks."
"For?"
"For this life of ours. For forgiving the seven-year itch and taking me back. I have never been so scared in my life. As
during those six months."
She moved to sit next to him. He raised his arm and she
snuggled in. "Tell me."
"I was my fault but my world collapsed. I was used to you and the kids and suddenly
there I was living alone. Made no
difference how the tears were cried it looked like it was over and I caused it
and couldn't fix the situation."
"Like Humpty Dumpty."
"Exactly."
======================================
So the
word is goodbye
Makes no
difference how the tears are cried
It's
over
And my
heart lives alone
I can
make believe you need me
When
it's over
And we
can't take it home
The fire
that was burning
When all
around was turning
And we
were cruising for the ride
Gotta
give a little of the love inside
Not to
take it all and watch me fall
I got me
lovin' you
======================================
"Then it seemed that for the children's sake we went
into polite mode. We both played along. We played like experts. I don't know for you
but for me it was hell. I went home to mom."
She sat up to look at him.
"You did? You never mentioned that."
"Too embarrassed." As she resumed her comfortable position. "My mom sided with you and when she
heard that you had gone zombie on me ... she slapped me and hard!"
Mac chuckled. "I wish I had seen that."
"I'm sure." He hugged her. "The point of the visit was to get advice. My world was fading away into nothing. I was losing you; forever I was an empty
shell with not a clue. So I turned to mom."
"And?"
"And what?! She lectured me! But then she softened and told me I had to woo you again. Strangely I was a flip remark of Brumby from
years ago that had me holding on."
======================================
And we
both played along
Love is
easy on the young
Life was
together
As the
world fades away into yesterday
I'm
losing you, forever
I'm just
an empty shell
With
nothing for tomorrow
I'm here
to face the sorrow
The
dream we sailed was far and wide
Gotta
give a little of the love inside
Not to
take apart this breaking heart
I got me
lovin' you
I had you lovin' me
======================================
"Mic gave you advice? That I have a hard time
believing"
"Not advice a flip remark that went something like
this [Stray once and she'll forgive
you. She'll give you hell but she'll forgive
you.] I hung on to that belief for dear life."
"And when exactly did this bonding take place?"
Mac was curious.
"Day two of his arrival he thought we were a
couple." Harm revealed.
"Are we really the only ones who didn't know we had
this link?"
"Seems so."
"Amazing I must agree with Carolyn in her observation
on her doubts of a romance between us much less a tenth wedding anniversary."
Harm hugged her again.
Kiss me Mrs. Rabb.
