veryone was asleep. It seemed that Moya was too. The ship had to have been asleep as the only
clue the team had that there was a problem was when they fell out of bed and
hit the floor.
“God damn it!” Chrichton cursed.
“Frell!” D’Argo bellowed.
The instruments Zhan’s lab clattered then settled.
Pilot braced for the inevitable barrage.
“Pilot… what the hell happened!”
“Pilot I’m talking to you!”
“Pilot! I’m coming down there!”
=========================================
ENTERPRISE NC1701D
“Hard to starboard Mr. Data!” Captain Jean Luc Picard
jumped up from his command seat as the alien craft suddenly emerged from the
stellar cloud.
Too late.
“All hands brace for impact!” The second in command
Commander William T. Riker barked into the ship wide intercom. Almost simultaneously the Starship rocked
from the glancing blow. The hit sent
the crew reeling.

ONBOARD MOYA
Commander John Criton – lost soul looked out the
viewfinder. “And what Mr. Spock is that?”
“Who?” Areyn Sun – Ex-Peace Keeper asked. “Oh never mind.
I have not a clue.” She contacted the multi-tasking Pilot. “Pilot is that
configuration familiar?”
“No Officer Sun” Came the reply.
“Some body contact that thing!!!” Rigel – deposed Dominar, commanded.

ENTERPRISE NC1701D
“Captain!” Lt. Worf alerted Picard “We are being hailed.”
“On screen.”
The two sets of aliens faced each other.
“Explain yourself!” Khar D’Argo demanded.
“What did he say?”
Riker asked. The translators
were scrambling to compensate.
Picard looked to his empathic Counselor, Deanna
Troi. “They are as confused as us.” She
informed him.
“Well how day! I’m Crichton.” A body spoke. “Where ya’ll
hail from.”
“I am Jean Luc Picard, Captain of the USS Federation
Starship Enterprise.” He said formerly then added. “You speak English?” Jean Luc was surprised to say the least.
“Well la di dah.
Damn straight.” Came the
reply. “What do ya’ll mean by ramming
us?”
Riker’s eyebrows jumped and he was about to take up the
challenge. Picard stopped him with a gesture.
“I think you will find that the whole incident was an accident.”
“What is going on?” Ayren demanded.
“What did she say?” Riker asked, as the translators still
had not solved the communication need.
“Nothing.” Crichton lied to both.
“Maybe it would be better if you beamed across and we
could talk about this.” Picard offered.
At the suggestion Crichton called his colleagues into a huddle.
“No!” D’Argo announced. “There is no way I am going
across to an unknown ship where the people are obviously military. They could
be a secret branch of the Peace Keepers for all we know.”
“Amen.” Chianna spoke for the first time. “They could be
from the Center for all we know.”
“And there your have it.” Rigel stated.
“And what’s this **beaming** anyway.” Ayren asked.
“Seems that real world and SciFi have merged.” Crichton commented. “SO!!! We stay put?”
“Hell yes!” Chianna confirmed.
+ + +
In the mean time the bridge crew of the Enterprise were
having a group debate of their own.
“Data.”
“Yes Captain.”
“Does your extensive data banks have NO record of this
ship or the people?” Jean Luc asked.
“Well sir I would say that at least one is human.”
Worf rolled his eyes at the reply.
Crichton called out to them. “Well folks here’s the deal. We ain’t BEAMING anywhere, but you
are welcome to come visit.”
“Our translators are having problems deciphering the
various languages.” Jean Luc informed
him.
“Shucks we can fix that.”
“You can?” Deanna was intrigued.
“Sure!” Crichton assured her.
Picard spoke up “But before we come over we need to call
on JAG.”
“JAG?” Crichton
echoed.
“The Judge Advocate General.” Riker elaborated.
Crichton blanched. “Hell no!”
“NO?” Picard repeated.
“NO! No Perry Mason, No Matt Dillon and NO HARMON RABB
JR!!! Now what part of N-O eludes you?!”
=========================================
EARTH
JAG HEADQUARTERS
“NO! No Perry Mason, No Matt Dillon!!! No what part of
N-O eludes you!” The Secretary of the
NAVY raged at the Petty Officer. “Get me Mackenzie and Rabb!!”
The young man scrambled to comply before the Admiral joined
in.

“You
sent for us sir?” Mac entered first.
“Colonel,
Commander.” Their CO Admiral AJ Chedwiggen waived them in. “Pack your sea or in this case space bags.
You are about to investigate the collision between the Enterprise and an Unidentified
Ship.”
“Is this something we need Lt. Roberts on
sir?” Harm fought to hide his amusement. Mac was no better as she added “Maybe
even Jarod?”
The
SECNAV glared at the two. “By all means
take them with you.”
“Aye
sir.” They chorused.
AJ
handed over the file. “Dismissed.”
As
they turned to leave the SECNAV stopped them.
“Deal with this with a minimum of fuss people.”
“Aye
sir.” They chorused.
The
SECNAV looked at AJ who just shook his head. Those four were a magnet for
trouble!

Part 2
by Laura Michaels
"You're going where?" Commander Caitlin Pike asked Commander Rabb.
"We're going to investigate the collision of a Galaxy class starship and
an unidentified flying object."
"A UFO? ...And you want me to contact Jarod for you?"
"You two were getting rather chummy the last time we all met."
"He knows my sister," Commander Pike explained.
"So you do know how to contact him, or at least your sister does."
"If my sister knew how to contact him..." Harm looked at her
strangely and she decided she'd better not get into discussing that particular
situation in detail. "I'll see what I can do."
* * *
* *
Jarod met Commander Pike at a Baskin Robbins store in Washington, DC an hour
later. "You're lucky you caught me while I was in the
area," he told her. He sat
down at a table and start eating the large
banana split-sundae with the works thrown on it.
"Can you believe the case they're sending Harm and Mac on?" Commander
Pike took a spoon from her cup of chocolate chip ice cream.
"Sounds like one of my hobby simulations. You want to come? It
could be fun."
"Won't there be enough lawyers around to handle it?"
"With a case like this? If we were on a carrier, they'd have a whole
staff of lawyers. I don't think we have nearly enough people to deal with
this. As a matter-of-fact, I was thinking of inviting some of Adam's
people. They certainly have the expertise for it. Not like I could
take Angelo anyway."
"Who's Adam?"
"A friend of mine who's into genetic research."
"What does genetic research have to do with this case?"
"Nothing, but
one of his cooooolleagues is a telepath. Might be useful to have around,
especially considering the language barrier."
"I don't know about this, Jarod. I'm not sure the Judge Advocate
General would go along with inviting more people to get involved in something
this strange."
"If they've invited me, they're desperate. Trust me. I know
people. I'll call Adam and his friends and we'll be ready to leave in two
hours."
She handed Jarod a folded note with an address from Commander Rabb. "Harm
said for you to meet them at a dock. I can't figure it out. You can't be
going by a regular boat."
"No, we're going Q express."
"'Q express'?"
"It's a long story. Most government representatives, including
Picard and Janeway, don't get along great with the Q, but I think they're
fantastic. Of course, I do have the advantage that I understand them
better than Picard or Janeway."
"Who are Picard and Janeway?"
"You'll meet Picard when we get there."
"Assuming I decide to go."
"You have to go. It'll be fun and you could use some fun.
You've been working too hard. The Q can do much better simulations than
the Centre ever could. ...And what lawyer could pass up the opportunity
to try a case regarding a starship? It'll be an historic JAG
assignment."
"'Historic'? In the future?"
"Well, when it happens it'll be historic. Pack your things and meet
us there in two hours. Believe me, Kate, they need your expertise as a
lawyer. I predict your name will end up in the history books for
this one."
"The history books three centuries from now?"
"Do you really think Harm and Mac can handle this all alone?"
"You've got a point. I'll go pack and meet you at the
docks." She handed Jarod the rest of her ice cream for him to finish
and got up to leave. "I'd better not get airsick on this trip."
Jarod knew she was teasing. Commander Pike would never get seasick or
airsick. She'd had too much experience on boats and planes.
"You won't be sorry, Kate."

THE DOCKS
Lt. Colonel MacKenzie paced around the small fenced off area that composed the
dock for this particular mission. She was the first one there and the
only one on time. She was both frustrated and intrigued by this new
mission and was more than ready to get it over with.
As a child she'd dreamt once or twice about going to space, but as she grew
older, those dreams faded in the reality of life with a drunken father and
without the mother who abandoned her. Now, it seemed, her childhood dream
was to come true. Her mind couldn't quite wrap around the logistics,
though. [A ship from the 23rd century collides with another ship that
just happens to be carrying one of our missing astronauts…] Science was
never her best subject, but somehow this whole thing just didn't seem
plausible.
"More like the plot of one of Bud's favorite shows," she mumbled.
"Mac?" Commander Kate Pike asked as she joined the other woman.
"Nothing," Mac replied as they were joined by both Lt. Bud Roberts
and Jarod.
"Who are we today?" Mac asked with a smile, indicating Jarod's Marine
greens.
Jarod returned her smile and then saluted, "Major Jarod Beckett at
your service, Ma'am."
Mac returned the salute, "Beckett?"
Bud jumped in, "I helped him pick it, Ma'am. Beckett was the last
name of the main character on 'Quantum Leap.'"
"Evidently, it was a show about time travel." Jarod continued.
"Rather appropriate, don't you think?"
Mac nodded as Harm joined the group, considerably out of breath.
"Haven't you learned to keep a bag in your trunk yet, Flyboy?" she
teased.
"Ha, ha, Marine!" Harm said as he caught his breath. He looked
around at the others and then frowned, "A Marine, Jarod?"
"I figured that I should even the score here. Mac
was outnumbered by you squids."
"Okay, now that everyone's done teasing me, are we ready to go?" Harm
asked with one of his trademark flyboy grins.
"Not quite," Jarod answered, "We're waiting for a few friends of
mine."
Harm looked at Mac who shrugged and shot him an "it's news to me"
look.

READY ROOM
USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701D
Picard looked around the table at his senior officers. He could already
tell by the scowl on Worf's face that the security chief was definitely against
the idea of letting any of the crew beam over to an unidentified alien vessel,
even one harboring a human. "Thoughts?" he asked finally.
The room was silent. "I don't sense hostility from the human and
only cautiousness from the others. They're all confused, but also a
little curious." Deanna said, breaking the silence.
Picard nodded, "Anyone else?"
"Captain…" Worf began. Picard held up a hand.
"I know, Mr. Worf," he said, "You're not comfortable with any of
us beaming over to the alien vessel." He paused. "That's
why I'm assigning you to the away team along with Commander Riker, Counselor
Troi and Data. Mr. LaForge and Dr. Crusher, I want you standing by to
beam across after the initial away team makes first contact."
"Understood, Captain," all of the members of the senior staff echoed.
Picard stood and headed for the bridge, the others, minus the initial away
team, following him. Stopping in front of his chair, he turned to the
officer manning the communications, "Open a channel to the alien
vessel."
"Aye, Sir… channel open."
The view screen showed the bridge of the other ship, the human, Crichton, in
the front. "Mr. Crichton, we accept your offer. I'm sending a
team to your ship…"

ON BOARD MOYA
Aeryn jumped as four figures coalesced in front of her. Three could pass
as Sebacian, though one did have rather pale skin. The other was
obviously alien.
Crichton joined her and extended his hand to the tall, dark-haired man who was
obviously in charge. "I'm John Crichton, this is Officer Aeryn
Sun."
Aeryn offered a half-hearted smile to the newcomers.
"Will Riker, this is Deanna Troi, Mr. Data, and Mr. Worf," the
dark-haired man answered. "I'm second-in-command of the
Enterprise."
Crichton seemed to be impressed. “No kidding?” he focused on Deanna “An I thought you had these good ole boys in check.”
Riker bristled at the attention.

READY ROOM
USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701D
Picard looked out the portal as he contemplated their (well his) present situation. Why was it that when time was of the essence that he always seemed to encounter SOMETHING to waylay him? This time it was this … this … ship. Enterprise was on a secret mission to form an alliance between Starfleet and the Peacekeepers to stand united against the Scarons and the Dominion. So what happens? Now they are embroiled in this investigation and must await JAG!
“Damn!” He cursed.
The computer beeped indicating that he had an incoming message. “Access message.”
“This message is priority Alpha One. Please identify.” The neutral voice asked.
[Alpha One?] He was surprised. He gave the code and came face to face with Admiral AJ Chedwiggen the Judge Advocate General himself. [Ironic] he thought. “Sir?” He said.
“Capitan Picard.” The Admiral launched. “I have dispatched a JAG team to expedite matters.”
“I am aware of that sir.” It was Picard’s way of asking [why the call?]
“I want you to employ delaying tactics.” AJ suggested.
“Sir?” Pircard was surprised to say the least.
“Do I need to make this an order Captain?”
“No sir but I am on a mission and any delay will jeopardize it.” The Captain informed the Admiral.
“I am aware of that Captain, however we all have our orders.” He warned.
=========================================
ON BOARD MOYA
“Mr. Worf!” Riker commanded but to no avail.
“K’ar Dargo this is no way to comport yourself!” Rigel said with disgust.
Had this been Earth Crichton would have taken bets as it were all he could do was relish the all out fight that had erupted out of no where between the Luxon and the Klighon. “Don’t tongue him now! That would end the show too soon!”
“Tongue?” Riker was intrigued.
“It ain’t a pretty sight…. Oooo” he cringed as Worf landed one.
Under any other circumstances Riker would be the first to lay a bet. As leader of the Mission he had to set an example but how did one stop this?
“Testosterone.” Deanna mumbled.
“What’s that?” Chianna demanded.
“A hormone human males have that cause then to do this.” She explained.
“But neither of them are human.” Aryen reminded the Starfleet officer.
“You live with a human. Do you not see the similarities?”
“Point.” Aryen conceded.

READY ROOM
USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701D
“With all due respect sir. Where the roles reversed you would need some sort of clue. My offices are fine upright people and will press for a reason for the delay.” Picard pressed.
AJ sighed. “I concede the point. The most I can offer is that I will contact SCENAV and put your argument to him. That’s the best I can do.”
“Thank you.” In negotiating one had to take a back step now and then.

Part 5
by Laura Michaels
The JAG envoy appeared out of thin air on Moya thanks to 'Q Express'.
Undoubtedly Q was around somewhere watching their exploits with glee. The
JAG group found themselves observing a fight between two aliens.
"Looks like we got here just in time for the action," Harm commented.
"Should we stop them?" Jesse asked. He was about to phase
himself solid and let the two hit the equivalent of a nice, hard, solid brick
wall.
"No." Adam interrupted him. "Let them work their
aggressions out before we get down to the negotiations. It'll be better
than having to deal with it later."
Riker had noticed the arrival of the JAG envoy and came over to talk to
them. "Maybe we should just bet the negotiations on the outcome of
this fight."
"I wouldn't recommend it," Jarod said. "We're here to
negotiate a mutually beneficial peace agreement, not settle an argument based
on a random violent outcome."
"Besides, we want to drag this out as long as possible. You in
charge?" Harm asked Riker.
"Yes. Commander Riker. I'm head of this away team. And
you are?"
"Commander Harmon Rabb."
"I like a good fight, but don't you think dragging this out is overdoing
it a bit. After all, we are supposed to be negotiating."
"What started the fight anyway?" Jarod asked.
Data overheard Jarod's question and walked over to introduce himself and start
up a discussion on human nature. From Jarod's comments he seemed like a
good person to talk to about the irrationality of humans. They began
discussing how the fight started and why humanoids would be motivated to do
those sorts of things.
Harm pulled Riker off to the side so everyone couldn't hear. "We
need to talk about this, Commander. Some new strategic information has come
to light. We both have new orders."
"I didn't know we took orders from the 20th century."
"Actually, it's the 21st now. That's not the point. We're all
interested in doing what's good for humanity and Jarod managed to get a few
interesting facts to slip while he was talking to Q."
"Q wouldn't let anything slip."
"Nevertheless, if the information checks out, it's worth delaying your
current mission to settle this properly. I also highly recommend you find
out everything you can about these aliens before continuing on to your
Peacekeeper negotiations. After all, these people are from the same
sector of space as the Peacekeepers. Wouldn't it be useful to find out
what you're getting yourselves into?"
Deanna and Emma had been staring at each other since the JAG envoy's
arrival. Both felt something odd about the other, but couldn't place what
it was.
"Deanna. Deanna!" Riker had a hard time getting her
attention.
She finally heard him and joined the two Commanders. "Is there a
problem?"
"Commander Rabb here recommends we find out as much as we can about these
aliens since they may know something useful for our mission. I'm putting
you in charge of that."
"Shouldn't we find out more about them first." She motioned
toward the group that arrived with Commander Rabb.
"They're on our side. We don't need to investigate our own
people."
"Well there's something strange about that one." She indicated
Emma. Then she pointed to Shalimar. "And her eyes glowed
yellow when she first spotted the fight. Not at all a normal human
reaction,
wouldn't you say?"
"We can set her up with Data later." Riker was teasing since
the android's eyes did have a yellow cast to them. "In the meantime,
we need to get to work on this. We have a deadline for that Peacekeeper
meeting."
"I really don't think Shalimar is Data's type," Harm replied.
Riker took a good look at her. "I wonder if she's my type?"
Deanna managed to elbow Riker hard in the ribs. "You're supposed to
be heading the away team, Commander."
"Ow! I'll try to keep that in mind."
"What are you going to be doing while I do all the formal negotiations
work?"
"Commander Rabb and I have some strategy to discuss about this
situation."
Deanna was ready to walk off. Harm called to her before she could.
"Hey, I recommend you let Emma, Adam and Jarod in on your information
gathering mission. Emma's a telepath. Adam's
a genius and Jarod, well he's a genius too, but his specialty is getting into
people's heads. If nothing else, we came prepared."
When Deanna heard Emma was a telepath, her strange feelings about the woman all
began to fit into place. She wondered if the two could communicate
telepathically like Betazeds could. It would
be a good negotiations advantage if they could talk without anyone else hearing
them. "All right, I'll go recruit them for my mission. What
about that fight? Shouldn't we stop them? Can we stop them?"
"Data could," Riker reminded.
"Jesse and his friends could probably handle it too, but I think our best
bet is to just let them get tired of it on their own. They'll wear
themselves out eventually."
"Yeah, Klingons are into fighting for honor. Once he figures out the
alien is honorable, he'll be in a much better mood to negotiate with these
people." When Deanna retreated, Riker said, "Let's make this
debriefing about our delay actions fast. I don't want to miss a good
fight."
"Neither do I, Commander," Rabb replied. "Neither do
I."

LATER
It was quiet on the bridge of Moya. The only lights were from the stars outside her window. Harm stared out at the
other ship in wonder. He was startled by a hand on his shoulder, but didn't turn as he acknowledged his partner. "Mac."
She moved around to face him with a smile. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
He nodded. "When I was little my father pointed some of the constellations out to me… and I remember watching the
moon landing with my mom and grandmother at the farm." He paused and looked out at the stars again. "They look so
different from this angle."
Mac smiled again, "I know…."
Harm looked at her with a grin. "I've been thinking…."
"Don't hurt yourself, Flyboy." Mac interjected.
"Very funny, Marine."
"I'm a very funny lady, Harm."
"So you've told me," he answered. "Anyway, like I said, I've been thinking. My cousin would love this. She's working in
deep-space telemetry right now and she wanted to join NASA as a kid…"
"The one in the Air Force?"
"Yeah."
"Colonel? Teal'c? Jonas?" a voice behind them called, obviously confused.
Harm and Mac turned around. "Sam?" Harm asked, heading towards her.
"H—Harm?" Major Samantha Carter asked, now very confused. "How did I get here?" She looked around the room
and began muttering to herself. "I followed Col. O'Neill up the ramp, I entered the event horizon… but this doesn't look
like P5X-561." She paused and looked at her cousin and his partner.
Mac shrugged and Harm was about to say something when a figure appeared in a bright light.
"Allow me to explain, Major," he said. "I brought you here."
Sam stared at the intruder. "And you are…?"
The dark-haired man bowed slightly, "Q, at your service." He answered with a smile that sent chills down Sam's spine.
She started to respond when in a flash of light she found herself, along with Harm and Mac, standing in a large empty
room.
In short order, other flashes of light appeared bringing the Enterprise away team, the rest of the team from Earth, and
Crichton, Aeryn, D'Argo, and Chianna from Moya. They were soon joined by Capt. Picard, Dr. Crusher, and Cdr.
LaForge from the Enterprise.
Everyone looked around them in confusion. Finally, Picard stepped to the middle of the room, "Q, I know you're behind
this… show yourself!"
Q appeared in a flash of light next to Picard. "Mon Capitaine, that is no way to speak to the one who is keeping you from
making a big mistake…."

SECNAV’S OFFICE
WASHINGTON DC
AJ Chedwiggen stared at the Sectary of the Navy and tried to plead his case AGAIN. “Sir … with all due respect!”
His eyes bulged. AJ spun on his heel it was true – he was no longer in the office of the SECNAV! In fact he wasn’t even in DC any more. He mind whirled and he just stood and did a recon of the area from where he stood.
He had been transplanted into what could only be called a one-dog town, complete with tumbleweed. But the place was a ghost town. OK so the place was deserted, what now. He turned and looked in the opposite direction and did a double take. He could have sworn that at the first look he was alone. But there before him stood a woman dressed as only Audrey Hepburn could. Long slim black evening gown with a long cigarette holder – loaded in her hand. In that outfit she seemed out of place but then in his uniform so was he.
He approached the woman who had yet to acknowledge his presence.
“Ma’am? I’M Admiral AJ Chedwiggen and I seem to be lost could you assist?”
No reply.
He tried again.
She continued to ignore him.
He knew she was no mannequin as she smoked through out the entire exchange. He finally gave up and decided to conduct a physical recon of this slice of history.
He walked into the Saloon – empty.
The Bank – vacant.
The Livery Stable – not a soul.
The Doctor’s Office – unoccupied.
The General Store – same this was getting repetitive.
He walked into the Sheriff’s Office expecting four walls when he stopped short. “SECNAV!”
“Oh thank goodness! AJ Get me out of here!!!” The SECNAV was locked in one of the cells.
AJ searched the old and dusty oak desk and finally found a set of keys. Of course out of a bunch twenty-five keys the last one tried proved to be the one that fit.
“At last! Now let me out!” and he strode out and came face to face with a street filled with mannequin like people all from different time lines and all ignoring each other and them. AJ stepped from behind the man and stared.
“Sir I think it’s safe to say that we are no longer in Kansas.”
Before the Older man could speak one of the mannequins turned and spoke. “Admiral Chedwiggen and Secretary Nelson… welcome.”
They jumped and then they stared “Sebring?” AJ asked cautiously.
Nelson’s eyes narrowed to slits. “Captain…”
“Humans. It looks like a duck, walks like a duck so it MUST be a duck.”
This didn’t sound like his friend but then in this setting who knew? “You are saying you are not Captain Sebring?”
“I’m not Judge Sebring either.” The clone replied.
“Who are you? Where are we?” Nelson demanded.
“I am Q and this is the Q Continuum and I am hurt that you don’t know me… humans. Save me.”
“Why are we here!” AJ insisted.
Q snapped his fingers there was a flash of light and the three assembled and seated in an office. Q smiled “I’ve always had a soft spot for The Center.”
“The Center?” AJ was lost.
The horror at the ignorance played over Q’s face. “Now why is it that you don’t want to let poor ole Jean Luc into the full game? Really gentlemen it’s just not cricket.” He appeared in a cricket outfit complete with pads, bat and helmet.
“It is a matter of….” Nelson began.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” Q cut across him and appeared Moses. “You are sending the man to conduct a mission shackled. Let my people go!” He changed into a Marine General’s Uniform. “Brief the man and let him do his job! That is an order!!”
Again the snapping of the fingers, the flash of light and the men were returned to the SECNAV’s Office.

TEN FORWARD
ENTERPRISE NC1701D
Deanna Troi approached Jarod, “May I?”
He slid over. “By all means.” He grinned. He liked Dee.
She sat next to him. “Enjoying your visit?”
“Oh yes! This is an amazing ship.” He gushed.
“I’m glad. What are you reading?” She indicated his padd.
“Writing not reading.”
“The mission report already?”
His grin got deeper “No fan Fiction.”
“Excuse me?” He’d lost her.
“Fan Fiction…” He actually knew something regular that someone didn’t. “It’s when you like a show and take the characters of that show and write your own adventures for them.” He could see she was intrigued. “This one is part of a story called Humdinger. Want to read it?”
She nodded. He handed it over and while she read he ordered drinks for them.
She placed the padd down. “But you can’t end it there!” she sipped her drink.
“This my part of a bigger story. You can write by yourself or as part of a Round Robin. That’s where folks each take a turn to do a part. This is my part. The next person will pack up and run with it. You never know what’s going to pop up. It’s fun!!!”
“Round Robin huh?”
“Uh huh then there are challenges. That is where an idea is given out by a reader that encourages and tests author’s ability to write a piece with the ideas listed. Sometimes challenges are part of a contest and the ideas are in fact a set of rules.” He gushed.
“Will you let me read the whole story when it’s finished?” She asked.
“It will be my pleasure.” He promised.

SICKBAY

“I feel like I should apologize for the dullness of your tour so far.” Dr. Beverly Crusher told Dr. Kelly Bracket.
“Not at all!” He assured her. “Remember I work in an A&E Department. Dixie and I welcome the opportunity to get a busman’s holiday.”
As Crusher began to respond the dual tones sounded announcing a message. “Captain to Dr. Crusher.”
“Crusher here.”
“Prepare for incoming.”
“Incom…” her query was cut short as two bodies materialized on the floor of Sickbay.
The two doctors sprang into action. Beverly recognized Worf immediately. “Get them onto the beds.” It took the majority of the staff to move Worf then D’Argo.
“What species are these?” Kel asked before he began.
Beverly pointed, “Klingon and … God alone knows.”
“Scan!” Kel demanded and instinctively put his hand out. Just as automatically Dixie placed the scanner in his hand.
While Kelly Bracket gathered data on the Luxon Beverly Crusher worked on Worf and soon had him stabilized, once done she moved to her colleague’s side. “What have we got?”
“You tell me.” They moved to the screen.
Suddenly D’Argo began to convulse. No one could hold him down. In the midst of the chaos Beverly tapped her com badge. “Crusher to Data.”
“Data here.” Came the instant response.
“Report to Sickbay NOW!”
“On my way.”

CAPTAIN”S READY ROOM
ENTERPRISE NC1701D
Captain Jean Lu Picard still had not had word from Admiral Chedwiggen and his JAG crew was still investigating. He stood before the replicator “Tea – Earl Grey” He commanded, picked up the teacup and returned to his chair. He was not a happy man.
He sipped the brew and came to a decision: Enough was enough. “Computer. Open a subspace channel – Priority one to Captain Dylan Hunt of the Andromeda Ascendant.”

Part 8
by Laura
"Captain," Andromeda said, "we're receiving a
transmission."
"From whom?" Dylan asked.
"The Captain of the Enterprise."
"We don't have any Commonwealth ships called Enterprise, at least not any
that survived."
"Maybe we'd better talk to the man and find out who it is," Beca
suggested.
"Put the transmission through."
"This is Captain Jean Luc Picard of the Federation Starship
Enterprise. Captain Hunt, we need your assistance." No sooner
were the words out of Picard's mouth, he realized Q was pulling the strings
again. The Federation had no starship named the Andromeda Ascendant and
he knew of no Captain named Dylan Hunt.
"What can we do for you, Captain?" Dylan asked.
"Well... This is a bit complicated. Have you ever heard of a
species called the Q?"
There were blank looks around the ship, except for Trance. "I
have," she said. "Not the best species to encounter."
"I heard that." Q's voice came from nowhere.
"You don't push me around like you do those other races you play
with," Trance said.
"No, but I can play with your friends. Help them if you can,"
the voice faded away to an echo.
"Great! Now what?" Dylan asked.
"We certainly could use your help. We're trying to negotiate a treaty
with the Peacekeepers and we seem to have run into a problem...or rather a
ship, literally. Our crew is long overdue. Q has been scattering
them heaven knows where. To top it off, he brought in some people from
Earth from the 20th century to help and now you."
"Earth? My Earth?" Harper asked.
"A parallel universe Earth," Trance explained. "This one
was never attacked by the Nietzscheans or the Magog."
"Sounds like they're in a better position than we are? What do they
need us for?"
"Because without our help," Trance explained, "they'll end up
like our universe. The Federation is the equivalent of the Commonwealth
and they're still very much intact and in control in that universe."
"...But not for long," Tyr commented.
"Not unless we help them," Dylan said.
"Does no one here see anything wrong with this?" Beka asked.
"Certainly I do. We're risking our lives again for another useless
cause," Tyr said.
"No, something more immediate. It's not our universe. Why are
we getting ourselves involved in another conflict, when we haven't even saved
our own little corner of the universe?"
"Because what happens in other universes can influence this one you
remember when those aliens attacked us from another universe through the
doorway. They almost destroyed the new Commonwealth." Trance pointed out.
"Yeah, but these guys don't have a doorway or anything," said
Harper. "Do they?"
"The Dominion doesn't have one yet, but they may soon," Trance
replied as the struggle at Deep Space Nine danced in her mind’s eye.
Hunt thought the situation over quickly. "What can I say?
Captain Picard, we're at your disposal."
"Yes, but how do you expect me to get to another universe?" Rommie,
the ship's avatar, asked Dylan.
"I'm sure Q has that covered," Picard said. "Notify me
when you arrive. We can meet in my briefing room and I'll fill you in on
the entire situation. That's assuming your friend," he indicated
Trance, "doesn't already know everything."
"Events aren't written in stone, Captain, especially with the Q
interfering to constantly change them. I have no idea of the outcome at
this point, although I do see several probabilities, many of
them...unpleasant."
"Hopefully, we can fix that," Dylan said.
Trance nodded.
"Well, straight ahead, Andromeda. Follow that transmission."
There was a flash of light and Dylan, Harper and Rommie ended up in the
Captain's ready room with Picard.
Q was also there, wearing a Starfleet uniform. "Why go through all
that formal rigamarole. You can start your debriefing now, Picard.
Time is of the essence."
"Where's my crew?" Dylan asked, careful to try to cover most of the
annoyance in his tone when addressing Q.
Q pointed to a window of the ready room. The group could see a portion of
the Andromeda Ascendant through it. "I strongly suggest you leave
Trance on board. Her species can be a real nuisance."
"Funny, she said the same about you," Dylan informed Q.
"Exactly my point. I wouldn't trust that one if I were you,
Captain." He addressed both captain's with his comment.
"I trust Trance with my life," Dylan replied. "Now shall
we get on to business?"
"I'd better notify the bridge we have another ship involved in this,"
Picard said.
"That would be a good idea," Harper said. "Let them know
we're friendly before they try to shoot us out of the skies."
"My crew would never do that. I'll assemble some of my people and
we'll hold a formal debriefing," Picard said to Dylan's personnel.
"Providing I can find them," he said to the empty air, but was addressing
Q.
"Picky, picky. I was attempting to speed things along and this is
the thanks I get. All right then, shall we try this?"
There was another flash of light and Picard's helmsman on duty, Riker, Geordie
and Deanna ended up on in the ready room along with Mac, Jarod, Kate, Aeryn,
Chianna, Crichton, Shalimar and Emma.
"Wow! Look at all the lovely ladies," Harper said.
"What's going on?" Aeryn demanded, but was ignored.
Picard addressed the helmsmen. "The Andromeda Ascendant has joined
our negotiations." He indicated the ship outside the window.
"Aye sir," the helmsmen replied.
"Dismissed," Picard said.
"Since you're making no headway in your 'negotiations', I thought perhaps
the females should make an attempt at a settlement. They do claim to be
more effective at communication, reconciliation and
cooperation than you males."
"Are you testing us, Q?" Deanna asked.
"Always." He disappeared in a blinding flash of light.
"He's still close," Deanna said.
"I sense him too," Emma agreed.
"Shall we get down to the negotiations?" Deanna asked.

Part 9

Picard came to a decision and sent for Commanders Rabb and Riker, once seated he addressed them.
“Gentlemen, I have an additional assignment for you, an article 32 hearing into the altercation between Lt Wrof and Ka’Dargo. If warranted I will convene a court martial. Dismissed.” Picard had spoken and as far as he was concerned that was that.
As the doors opened the Captain called out, “Number One.”
“Sir.” Riker replied.
“Have the team from Mutant X left for Earth yet?”
“Yes sir as have the team from Rampart Hospital.” The XO reported. “We are still left with JAG, and the Crews from Moya and Andormeda Ascendant.”
“Mmmm.” Picard mused. “Thank you number one.”
“Aye, Sir.” Riker left and the doors closed shut.

RIKERS QUARTERS
Mac was bushed. This Mission was a hard one, deep in space on JAGman investigation that was taking on aspects of high level negotiations and now and article 32 to deal with. Even if she’d opted for hot chocolate over coffee she was too tired to wait for it and had crashed on the sofa.
Riker emerged from his kitchen with the coffee and hot chocolate. He placed the cups on the table. “I see she didn’t make it.”
“Out like a light.” Harm grinned as he accepted the offered cup.
“Hot chocolate?” Riker was still put off by that. He’d seen the Marine put away coffee that would give Worf a moment of pause.
“Seems that when she is too wound up the coffee just makes it worse… the caffeine and all that.” Harm explained as he watched the Marine sleep.
Riker watched Harm watching Mac; he made a decision and acted on it. “Harm do you love her?”
Harm was taken by surprise. “What kind of question is that?!” A good offence is always the best defense.
“An honest one. Now answer me.”
“None of your damned business.” He snapped.
“True.” Riker conceded “But I cling to our new found friendship as my cloak of protection and repeat do you LOVE her?”
“Why is my love life of such interest to you?”
“It just is. Now don’t try to change the topic.” He stared at his friend.
Harm was cornered and gave in. “Yes.” He confessed. “But don’t tell her.”
Riker was exasperated. These people claimed to be adults. “Why?”
The walls were down and now the confession flowed. “I have no idea how she will react.”
“Let me see if I understand this. You love the woman but you don’t have the gonads to tell her?”
Mac heard the last part of the conversation and shocked the men by stating “Oh for God’s sake Harm get a grip. If you love this woman tell her!” She stood. “Sorry I fell asleep there.”
A stunned Riker managed to stutter, “It’s ok.”
“That right?” Harm’s eyes bored into her. How much had she heard?
Even as her heart broke she nodded and put on a brave face. “The way I see it you are facing two types of hell: the one of not knowing how she feels and the one of knowing exactly how she feels. Personally I’d like to know.” She held his look refusing to look at Riker as she handed out advice. She chuckled nervously “But then no one asked me for my opinion. That my Hot Chocolate?” She reached for it. “Not so hot.” She headed for the kitchen to dump it and order a new cup from the replicator.
As soon as she turned to leave Riker glared at Harm and widened his eyes. Harm shrugged. Riker threw his arms up into the air.
Mac returned to find the two men in a funk. She sipped from her mug and looked from one to another. “I miss something?”
Riker gurgled.
“Sorry?” She grinned, “Repeat in English please?”
“I will become a mental case or an alcoholic!” He suddenly declared.
Mac needed no further translation “I’ve had this for nearly ten years. Think how I feel!”
“How do you feel?” Harm pounced.
She chortled, “Speak to my lawyer here.” She indicated Riker.
“We plead the fifth.” Riker stated, leaned back and folded his arms.
“We do?” She asked.
“We do.” Riker assured her.
“We do.” She told Harm.
The two Officers turned and faced Harm.
“OK… OK… I love this woman and I have no idea how she feels and I’m scared.”
Mac pulled a face. “I can understand scared.”
“You have not a clue. She’s licensed to kill.” Harm explained.
“Harm.” Mac signed. “I seriously doubt that there is any woman out there; killer or no who will behead a man for confessing his love for her.”
“And there you have it.” Riker leaned forward and slapped the table.
Mac’s eyes narrowed in suspicion. “I’m missing something here and I’m not sure I want to know what.”
Harm took the plunge. If Mac were to do him grievous bodily harm at least Riker would take him to sickbay. “It’s you.”
“Me? What about me.”
“Strength father.” Riker muttered.
A light went off in her head. She focused intently on Harm. “Oh no sir. You have to do better than that!”
He fidgeted maybe an audience wasn’t such a good idea. “I love you.” He whispered. When she provided no reaction he cleared his throat and repeated in a firmer voice and added. “The question is … do you feel the same?”
Mac held her breath in chock.
Harm held his breath in fear.
Riker held his breath in fascination.
No one moved for what seemed like eternity.
Finally she breathed. “This whole conversation was about me?” She couldn’t believe it. It was overwhelming. She finally got a grip of herself. “You love me you say.”
Harm nodded still unsure.
She stepped forward and placed the mug onto the table. Maintaining her bent angle she turned her head and said softly to him “About time.” She stood, grinned and winked at Riker who grinned back.
Riker stood to leave and as he reached to threshold he took a quick glance back and smiled as he witnessed the two kiss. All would be well.
The article 32 could wait a bit. He went in search of Deanna.
=========================================
In the meantime Admiral Eric Pressman had arrived and he convened a meeting of the two Commanders and the two Captains.
Harm stared.
“You have a problem, Commander?” Pressman demanded.
“No sir, Admiral Boone, sir.” Harm stammered.
“Boone! Boy you been sipping Romulan Ale?” Pressman glared at him.
“No sir!” Harm snapped to.
Pressman continued. “We have no time for an article 32 hearing. This mission is of vital importance.”
“That’s nice.” Dylan sneered “Now if you’d only tell me…”
Pressman began. “The Enterprise is on a secret mission…” He
corrected “…was on a secret mission to form an alliance between Starfleet and
the Peacekeepers to stand united against the Scarons and the Dominion.”
He paused for dramatic
affect, “Now we are embroiled in this investigation!”
“Military protocols,
Sir!” Riker reminded him.
“Add the Magog to that
list.” Dylan said.
Picard groaned, just how
many boogey men were there?!
Pressman issued
orders. “Drag that Leviathan with you
if needed, but get to that rendezvous point!”
“Will you be accompanying
us?” Picard asked.
“Hell yes.” The Admiral
grinned.
“Number one.” Picard
addressed his XO
“Sir!”
“Plot a course to the
original coordinates and engage at maximum warp.” He ordered.
“Sir.” Harm
interrupted. Picard just stared at the
JAG Officer. “What of the crew of
Moya.”
“They are welcome to join
us or jump ship.” Picard snapped. “Give
them five minutes notice Number one then get me there!”
“Aye sir!”
