My Human Condition Take some time to reflect upon your human condition. Reflect upon a few of the most important aspects of the human condition that affect you and what are the effects of this upon you. Which of all these ideas apply to you best? Which of these help you better understand your self and your life? Your Human Condition is a specific term in philosophy. It means the situation, or condition, in which every human being finds himself or herself by virtue of being human. In other words, the experiences, desires, fears, problems, and tendencies that all humans have, regardless of sex, age, culture, religion, social status, or time period in which they live. I feel that the three most important aspects of the human condition that apply to me are the desire for happiness, ignorance, and lonliness. I believe that the desire for happiness is the biggest aspect of all people's human condition. I am always striving to be truly happy but I don't always know what will make me truly happy or how to obtain these things. I am sure that there is no single thing that will lead me to happiness. Part of M. Scott Peck's maps was how you must always be looking to broaden your horizon. I believe that this is a great way to find things that make you happy, especially things that you may not have ever even considered trying before. Ignorance is another aspect that is key for me and something I feel is a flaw in my condition. In this context I think of ignorance similar to the foundational lesson of being biased. I am ignorant to things that I am not familiar with or have not experienced. It's not that i don't care or don't understand these things, it's just that I don't know alot about them which makes my worldview less than it could be. Lonliness is the third. I like to think of myself as a fairly social outgoing person. But sometimes I get too wrapped up in not only making a lot of friends but trying to get everyone to like me. This is especially true with the ladies. I don't know many and would like to meet more but sometimes I fell that I too worried about the wrong things. Lonliness can change people to be like others want which is a thing I try my best to avoid. |
