Nine Live
I love ensemble pieces and especially women's stories so seeing Nine Lives on the shelf at Blockbuster, I hoped I would not be disappointed.  The story concerns nine different women, each with a small moment in their life projected describing their entire person.  The stories connect to one another, but it becomes more about how this moment translates their state of being than about connecting the dots.
Each of the nine piece is shot in one shot, fluid despite traveling outside, inside, up an elevator or through a prison.  This creates the single moment feeling with more urgency, knowing that everything must happen in a small period of time.  The scenes don't explain things, they show which adds to the strength of the film and what we find is a greater story with very few words.  It is graceful, emotional and all encompassing of the fleeting time we have on the planet.  I was not in the least disappointed.
