I will be giving reviews of my favourite movies on this page. Films that have shocked, thrilled and inspired me!

The Fisher King

Robin Williams, Jeff Bridges, Amanda Plummer and Mercedes Ruehl star in Terry Gilliam's must-see comic masterpiece.

Williams is Parry, a homeless history professer who lives in a fantasy world full of castles, Red Knights and damsels in distress. Bridges co-stars as Jack Lucas, New Yorks #1 shock deejay, whose off-hand arrogance triggers a tragedy which ruins his carreer. Penniless and without prospects, Jack finds himself pluucked from disaster by the most improbable of saviours.....Parry.

And so the amazing story of The Fisher King unfolds.....a modern day quest for redemption and the Holy Grail, filled with humour, heartbreak and ravishing romance. This is without doubt my most favourite film of all time!!!

Leon (a.k.a The Professional.)

From acclaimed director Luc Besson comes this hard-hitting, action packed thiller. Gary Oldman plays a corrupt government official whose maniacal greed leads to murder on the streets of Ney York.

A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues when he crosses paths with a lone hitman (Jean Reno). Caught in the middle is an orphaned 12-year-old girl who cant forgive or forget the man who killed her family

With sharp execution and cunning force, Leon delivers exceptional drama and gripping suspense right from the start.

Brassed off.

It's 1992, and the minors of Grimly Colliery are facing uncertainty. Not only is their pit under threat, but the Grimly Colliery Band is on the verge of breaking up, that is, until Gloria (Tara Fitzgerald) arrives.

As the only female member of the band, she somehow manages to rekindle their enthusiasm for the forthcoming National Championships, as well as rekindling a childhood romance with Andy ( Ewan Mcgregor).

Lead by the passionate Danny (pete poslethwaite) the band play on. Danny has his pride and his trombonist son, Phil (Stephen Tompkinson), has his problems. Problems which even Mr Chuckles, the clown, can't seem to help him solve.

With the National finals at the Royal Albert Hall looming, can they all hold it together and secure a famouse victory for Grimley?

This movie will make you laugh and cry with powerful performances from a superb cast, in what is without doubt, one of the finest modern British films to date.

The Big Lebowski.

The Dude, Jeff Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is unemployed and laid back.... until.... victim of mistaken identity, two thugs break into his appartment in the errant belief that they are accosting Jeff Lebowski the Pasadena millionare.

In hope of getting a replacement for his soiled carpet Dude visits his wealthy namesake and, with buddy, ex 'Nam' veteran, Walter (John Goodman), he is swept into a Coenesque comedy/thriller of extortion, embezzlement, sex and dope.

It takes guys as simple as the Dude and Walter to make this story this complicated.... and they'd really rather be bowling

If you like your movies a little off kilter then this is the one for you!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

This is the bizarre and tragically gruesome account of what happened to five young friends one summer afternoon in Texas. After hearing reports of grave robbing, the group set out to checkon a family grave. Soon after, one-by-one they wander into the murderous clutches of Leatherface(Gunnar Hansen).

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a frightening classic that possesses an undying power to terrorize audiences again and again. It's ability to truly horrify is so strong that when the movie first opened, some people actually walked out in a state of shock.

Over twenty-five years on this movie is as powerful as it ever was and can still leave the viewer with an uneasy feeling.

El Mariachi.

A lone Mariachi (musician) wanders into a small Texan border town - a town he hopes will bring him luck. all he wants is to be a musician, like his father, his grandfather and his great grandfather before him. But this townbrings only a curse - of deadly mistaken identity

A hitman has entered town at exactly the same time. Both men wear black and carry similar guitar cases except the Mariachi's contains his beloved guitar and the hitman's is full of weapons.

Despite falling in love with a beautiful bar owner who takes him in after he is accidentally confused with the hitman, the Mariachi is forced to trade his guitar for a gun, and finds himself ushered into a violent underworld, battling the evil that lurks around him, in a wild bullet - dodging ride through an underworld of violence.

A triumphant debut movie for writer/director Robert Rodriguez, El Marichi is a truly remarkable action adventure that has deservedly won critical acclaim.

Platoon.

Directed by Oliver Stone, this was the most acclaimed film of 1987, winner of four Oscars, inc best picture and three Golden Globes.

Relentless and harrowing, Platoon follows the tour of duty of raw recruit Chris Tucker (charlie sheen) has he goes through the hell of the Vietnam war, experiencing every negative human emotion. From blind anger to madness, despair to terror, amid the scenes of pointless bloodshed and violence.

Thought provoking and intelligent, Platoon is a impossible film to ignore, the first real portrayal of this senseless war

Jaws.

Jaws is one of the greatest box office attractions in the history of motion picture. Director Stephen Spielberg has brought Peter Benchley's best selling novel to the screen with stunning power and unbearable suspense.

Roy Shcheider as Amity's Police Chief Brody, Richard Dreyfus as a young ichthyologist, and Robert Shaw as Quint, the colourful shark fisherman with a touch of the manic, are perfectly cast as the three men who become allied in a life - and - death hunt to destroy a killer embodying nearly three tons of instant white death!!!

The Silence Of The Lambs

From Thomas Harris' novel, director Jonothan Demme explodes and reconstructs a classic genre, laying a foundation of emotional and political commitment beneath a perfectly constructed psychological thriller. As Hannibal "the cannibal" Lecter, Anthony Hopkins is the archetypal antihero-cultured, quick-witted, uncontainable- a portrait of all the sharpest human faculties gone diabolically wrong. Winner of five Oscars in 1991, The Silence Of The Lambs is a tour de force of terror and horror.
