Summary of the Gospel of Matthew





The Birth of Christ: Jesus is seen as king and other things. The magi recognizing him as the king is a sign to come of what this toddler will do for the world.


The Baptism of Christ: In Jesus' baptism we once again see proof He is God's beloved Son and has come to save us all through God's interaction with this event.


The Sermon on the Mount: This is one of the first signs of the new law of love rather than the old letter of the law.


The Healings and Miracles of Christ: Christ performed many miracles and healed many people. These works proved to many that He was truly the Son of God.


The Parables of Christ: Here the Sower, the parables of Christ helped people to understand the kingdom of heaven, which was very difficult to grasp. Through them, however, many people understood it better.


The Feeding of Five Thousand: The feeding of five thousand greatly helped Jesus be understood as the Messiah, especially among his apostles.


The Death of John the Baptist: The death of John the Baptist was probably very hard for Jesus. They were cousins and Jesus most likely took it pretty hard.


The Transfiguration: This event proved once again that Jesus truly was the Messiah and Son of God.


Jesus enters Jerusalem: Jesus enters Jerusalem knowing what lays ahead for Him. While there, He gains many followers and performs many miracles.


The Last Supper: In this meal, we learn about the origins of the Eucharist and that Jesus knew it was Judas who would betray him.


The Betrayal of Christ: Jesus is betrayed by Judas in the garden but goes peacefully. It is meant to be.


The Trial of Christ: Jesus goes under trial. He is eventually sentenced to death, although never really found guilty by Pilate.


The Crucifixion of Christ: Jesus is crucified. The curtain in the temple is torn down the middle, signifying the bridging of the gap between man and God.

The Burial of Christ: Jesus is buried in a borrowed tomb and a guard is placed there to make sure a fake resurrection isn't attempted by His followers.


The Resurrection of Christ: Jesus is resurrected showing once and for all He is the Messiah and Son of God. The high priests pay the guards to say it didn't really happen.
