Chapter 1 Journal
1.One key idea mentioned in this chapter is that of being called into a relationship. This is shown in the Pentecost experience, which was the result of the relationship between Jesus and his disciples. Another is God's relationship with the Israelites and Abraham as shown in the Hebrew Scriptures. The relationship between the evangelists and the people they are writing for is another key relationship shown in this chapter. The story of Sister Thea once again shows how answering a call for her relationship with God can lead to a meaningful and whole life.
2.One thing I want to remember is the Synoptic Gospels. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are all synoptic because they share a "similar vision". Matthew and Luke both used the "Q" document which contained sayings of Jesus. John was the oddball and used imagery and mystical theology to emphasize the divinity of Jesus. Pentecost was the event in which the apostles where touched by the Holy Spirit. It resulted from the relationship between Jesus and his apostles. Through this they came to believe in and share the good news of our Lord.

4. Why did God choose Canaan to be the Promised Land?
5. In a poem, song, or role-play, tell or show how the world would be different today if Jesus had never been born.
Without Jesus the Messiah coming to earth
We would never be able to share in laughter or mirth
He was the one to save us all
The one to help us answer His father's call
He showed us the way and now we follow
His words were true, never hollow
Through this godly man we knew of our Lord
To this Lord he helped us move toward
Without our Savior we'd live in despair
Evil and sin would reign everywhere
What this world would be without him I cannot think
To heaven there would be no possible link
