Ixtheus Christian Devotionals

1 Th 5:16-23 (TLB)
 Always be joyful. 
{17} Always keep on praying. 
{18} No matter what happens, always be thankful, 
for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 
{19} Do not smother the Holy Spirit. 
{20} Do not scoff at those who prophesy, 
{21} but test everything that is said to be sure it is true, 
and if it is, then accept it. 
{22} Keep away from every kind of evil.
 {23} May the God of peace himself make you entirely pure and devoted to God; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept strong and blameless 
until that day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes back again.

1 Pet 4:7-10 (TLB)
 The end of the world is coming soon. 
Therefore be earnest, thoughtful men of prayer. 
{8} Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other,
 for love makes up for many of your faults. 
{9} Cheerfully share your home 
with those who need a meal or a place to stay for the night. 
{10} God has given each of you some special abilities; 
be sure to use them to help each other, 
passing on to others God's many kinds of blessings.

Eph 6:10-19 (TLB)
 Last of all I want to remind you 
that your strength must come from the Lord's mighty power within you. 
{11} Put on all of God's armor 
so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan.
 {12} For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, 
but against persons without bodies--
the evil rulers of the unseen world, 
those mighty satanic beings 
and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; 
and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world. 

{13} So use every piece of God's armor 
to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, 
and when it is all over, you will still be standing up. 

{14} But to do this, 
you will need the strong belt of truth and the breastplate of God's approval. 
{15} Wear shoes that are able to speed you on 
as you preach the Good News of peace with God. 
{16} In every battle you will need faith 
as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. 

{17} And you will need the helmet of salvation 
and the sword of the Spirit--which is the Word of God. 

{18} Pray all the time. 
Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit's wishes.
 Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, 
and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere. 
{19} Pray for me, too, 
and ask God to give me the right words 
as I boldly tell others about the Lord 
and as I explain to them that his salvation is for the Gentiles too.
