The City

January 21, 1998

The cockaroaches crawling on the walls
Watching bricks from all the buildings fall
There’s carnage everywhere I see
Are these Dusty Winds my Destiny?
It’s everywhere surrounding me

And now the taxi’s, they don’t stop
They hit the people, in the cross walk
There’s baby being left in the garbage can
Being held at knife point by a stange dark man
Now, I’m left naked where I stand

School days ending, I’m completely broke
Television reruns and it’s all a joke
Leaving safety trying to find a home
Praying the streets are not where I’ll roam

Being lied to as he cheats on me
Even all my friends cannot believe
His overwhelming audacity

Pow, Pow, el savanas
Oh the hurt and all the loss
It’s over, but not for me
I’ll continue to live in my city.
