Certa Cito - Swift & Sure Hi, my real name is Ken McGirr, I am 34 years old, married with two boys Steven aged 8 and Kevin who is 6. It is said that there is no one more patriotic than a Scotsman away from home, I don't know if it is true in all cases but it certainly is in mine ! As a result, you will often find me on the best channel on IRC, #Scotland if this channel didn't exist, my telephone bills would be halved. ;-) I used to live in a small town called Tillicoultry which is near Stirling in Central Scotland and my wife is from the town of Dunblane infamous for the recent tragedy there. Incidentally this Fairy tale is the only reference to Tillicoultry I could find on the web! I left Scotland in 1983 after working for 5 years as a butcher, to join the Army. I am currently serving in Cyprus as a Staff Sergeant Telecommunications Technician (Systems) in the The Royal Corps of Signals, I have been in the Signals for 13 years and have served the majority of these years in Germany, famous for it's pure natural Beers. I have also done tours in The Falkland Islands and more recently Bosnia with the United Nations. I love to travel and luckily have managed quite a bit with my job, 11 houses in 13 years! I have seen most of Europe, north south and more recently east, but America still remains elusive. I may even have to pay to come and visit it some day :-) One of the advantages of being in the Forces is
the availability of challenge pursuits. I hold a pilots licence for
Paragliding and
am a qualified Rock
Climbing Instructor. I have done a bit of parachuting
and a few mountaineering expeditions mainly to the Alps and the Pyrenees.
Water sports is not really my thing but living by the Medditereanean I
have made the effort and I'm now doing a bit of snorkelling, perhaps as
a prelude to Scuba Diving.
I still have a house in Central Scotland , not far from Madscot and Kyannes old place, 10 minutes drive East of Stirling which I rent out whilst I live overseas. I will be leaving the Army in about 9 years time when I will once again move back home to Scotland... |
