Review 1 9th July 02: 'Feet First' (InMe Gig) -Camden Palace, London. Like many, i can honestly say this was a fantastic night!! It started when we (Mike, Lily and i) walked through this walkway, following the sounds of someone attacking a drum kit.. having played the drums myself for few years, i was impressed!! We entered through the opening that revealed this massive hall.. we came in on the level above the stage. As we entered a red headed figure seated behind the drum kit caught my eye.. i knew immediately who it was, but still looked again to check. Dave looked up from what he was doing, continued playing, but greeted us with a brief chat as we walked in, slightly shocked of who was in front of us.. after all we weren't expecting to see them until much later. As, we all walked, and perched ourselves on the tilted seats attached to the wall, making sure we were in complete view of the stage so we could see the entertainer, a blonde haired figure walked towards the stage and looked up as we both came into each others view. All i heard (other than the background noise of Dave teaching the drums a lesson) was Lily go "ooo" then a smile spread across her face as Simon turned and climbed up on the stage.. getting ready to make sure the drums were clear of what was about to happen to them! Sure enough within the next few minutes, Dave, called it a day with the drums and Simon took over, giving us a lil intro, then a drum solo of 'Underdose', followed by more little samples, then he too retired to the backstage rooms... Away from us! It was then, and only then did the 3 of us realise our surroundings. A building that had clearly seen better days, the floorboards uneven, which squeaked and creaked under the slightest pressure, the walls that were worn of whatever was meant to be on them, but it was all agreed that for the purpose of tonight's plans, it was perfect. As i walked round the level above the stage, my eyes, fixated on the drum kit, looking at it longingly.. desperately wanting to jump down and play, my eyes were also caught by "eye spy with my hazel eyes.. a guitar and bass", hung on a side rack, a smile spread across my face as i realised who's they were.. Neither Lily, or Mike knew how i could tell which was electric bass and which was electric guitar (despite the difference in the number of strings) and how i could tell that the drum kit must have cost quite a bit, purely by knowing the make.. I smiled and replied "God, i'm good", by the end if the evening neither of them disagreed!! After awhile we were asked to wait outside with the other fans, who were slowly getting themselves either drunk, stoned or noticed by as many people as possible, by doing or shouting a selection of different things. All of these were funny to watch as, we chatted and got to know a couple of friendly people. Within the hour that pasted quickly, we were all relieved to see the doors open, as we all piled inside, each of us being stopped for a quick inspection of what we had on us!! After which we moved through to the desk where we sorted ourselves with our tickets and/or yellow stickers. The best gig so far, was about to begin.. The empty hall the 3 of us had only less than 2hrs ago entered, was now slowly filling up with fans, and moshers hungry for music, drink and a good time. There was no stopping any of us as we pasted the next 2hrs or so with drinks, chats, moshing and dancing. It was about 00:20ish when Mike leaned over to me and said in my ear "look who's behind you" that i noticed that while many of us were sat lined up along the edge of the stage, 2 bodies, occasionally 3 were moving about in the shadows of the darkened stage, as i looked behind me, and was sure it was Joe, i turned to my right and saw a tint of red hair move in the stage light dimly lit above. I grabbed Lily's hand, kisses Mike and said "we'll be right back" as Lily and i pushed our way through the crowds over to Dave, who looked up, eye-level to us and smiled , a mouthed "good luck" and we were off back to re-join Mike and re-claim our spot at the front, ready for the 'Real Music' to begin. The band must have shocked the majority of the crowd as the moment the lights and the band started the place erupted with energy, many of the fans hadn't notice the band moving around before, but they were well aware the band were in Camden Palace now. The band were in full control of us all, each member making sure we heard them. Simon attacked the drum kit with such force and meaning the beat kept us all jumping with energy and gave Joe plenty of reason and time to bounce/jump/move/hurl himself round the stage occasionally getting as close to the fans as possible (so close a few of us were watching out for the top of his bass) all this giving Dave the chance to reveal his talented voice to us all, complete with deepest growls, i'd ever heard. Most memorable moments of the set had to either be when the band were entertaining us with 'Crushed Like Fruit', and Joe (still playing the bass the whole time) climbed his way up to a side shelving/ledge where he jump over and on to the stage, landing perfectly, landing closer to the screams/yells of "Go on Joe", he looked up with a smile of his face. Or when Mike (despite my shock, and pleas to him of "what the f**k he was about to do?" as he climbed up onto the stage, during 'Underdose', and within seconds, jumping off into the crowd. (much to everyone's amazement, including the bands) I gave a quick look round to see the guys faces as he jumped, they were impressed!! I think many had been waiting to see if anyone would do it, and although a few tried it after him, they didn't have as much success!! After their set finished, a few of the fans managed to get on stage briefly to congratulate the guys on a great show. Before many having to be forced off the stage so the band could pack-up and get a drink. They shocked many by staying behind for the rest of the gig, chatting to as many people as possible, and signing whatever the fans who found them up on the left balcony had with them. Mike, Lily and i stayed the majority of the time they were there, chatting and having the occasional joke with Dave and Simon (although we got to say hi to Joe, he attracted alot of female fans that evening, and therefore was caught up chatting to them) Simon and i had a giggle and chat about "why he got a green sticker and i got a yellow one?" and Dave made me smile/slightly shocking and worrying me by announcing to the little crowd of Mike, Lily, Simon (in the distance), and Lora (from MFN) that my site was "the one with the drawn pictures" of them. Making Lora look at me with a smile and say, "that site must have taken forever to make", i was in shock and decided to make my reply with a smile "2am, some mornings, but, it's was no problem" -Thing was that the people that heard my reply knew i was telling the truth "it really wasn't any trouble". After the guys left the mini 'Meet and Greet' and a couple more jokes as they did, the place continued to burst with sweaty, drunk, and satisfied bodies until 3ish when the place slowly started to empty. Lily, Mike and i got to say a separate goodbye to the band (well, mainly Simon - Joe and Dave were out of sight to windows) as they were driven away - For some well needed rest!! Everyone that attended the Gig had no complaints that i heard of.. and they had no reasons to either.. THE BAND ROCKED simple as that. INME ARE GOING TO BE HUGE, and with the support from the amount of fans they have, no one will have a chance to complain, even if they did, they wouldn't be heard!!! INME ROCKED
