The White Buffalo

Long ago it was told to the Lakota people by the White buffalo calf woman
that the Indian as he knew would be destroyed and a new nation would emerge.
It was the White Buffalo calf woman who gave the
native Americans a sacred symbol, the pipe.

The pipe represents purity, sacrifice and that prophecy is being fulfilled.
With the coming of the white buffalo the ancestors have awakened
and proceed to convey to me the great sadness that dwells within their hearts.

My ancestors are precious to my heart and they guide me back to my rightful place.
I shall convey to you the Grandfathers of the medicine wheel.

North is for the BLUE Grandfather who fights for spirit with his mind in hopes of peace.
South is for the WHITE Grandfather who fights for spirit with tears in his eyes.
East is the RED Grandfather who fights for spirit with the fire and passion of his heart.
West is for the black Grandfather who fights for spirit on nurturing ground.

Long ago these native Ancestors made the great medicine wheel to represent
the sacred hoop of life and all within.
When the great medicine wheel is complete in the circle of life all is well above,
as well as below.
When the medicine wheel is broken so is our life cycle.
When the new comers came to this land they where welcomed and accepted our friendship and guidance.
We where different from them and the difference they feared.
It was them who took away our god and our beliefs and eventually broke the medicine wheel of life.

This resulted in great dysfunction among our people as our god was ripped from our heart.
All we need to know is inside us and they taught our children to deny what was inside them.
Our people where sold as slaves some escaped denying their heritage until after their death.

Some of my ancestors where from a great medicine family and where burned in New England as witches.
Others have been forced from their homes and suffered watching there loved ones die in a trail of tears.
Survivors where forced to live on a reservation.

The poverty of our people has also contributed to the dysfunction.
A race of people was almost wiped out within 200 years, Only a few still exist.
All this was done in the name of fear.

In 1994 a white buffalo calf was born in Wisconsin;
in 1996 another was born in South Dakota.
Now with the birth of the white buffalo it is an end to our suffering
and the fulfillment of the prophecy of the White Buffalo Calf woman.

It was the white buffalo that told us a new nation would form upon it’s coming.
It is time to assemble your prayer pipe and pray for the Native American Nation.

My heart breaks with the sadness of seeing that we have not forgiven them
for they know not what they do.
We are different now.
Our people have been forced into the melting pot of nationalities.
Some of our people have blonde hair and blue eyes.
Some have red hair and green eyes.
Even though these blond and red headed Indians hold spirit within
their hearts they are not treated like their brothers and sisters who resemble their ancestors.
Grandfather says the heart knows what it is and it is disgraceful for us to live or die in fear.
It is time for us to forgive the new comers and accept our people within our hearts.
Chief John Ross was only part Cherokee.
It was Chief Joseph Nez Perce who led his people in battle was only part Indian.
The white buffalo told our ancestors of the new tribe that was a mixture of white and Indian.
Now that the white buffalo has come to us again,
let us again complete our medicine wheel.
The colors remain the same BLUE for peace, Red for Fire and passion, WHITE for spirit,
and Black for the earth. We have been reborn.
It is time for us to stand together in unity with our new brothers and sisters.
It is time to fulfill the prophecies of the white buffalo for we have survived what some would call genocide.
It is time to gather and take back our God and our beliefs,
If we do not our Ancestors will have suffered for nothing.
When your heart gets heavy and full of fear think of your Ancestors and the White Buffalo.
