Gabe and Debra exchange words before Pelgrims eats and goes to sleep as the vole hunting appeared to be over. Mrell comes to Canon with a possible solution to the vole problem. Canon agrees to allow Mrell to leave the NIGHTINGALE with all of the voles in what promises to be a profitable venture. Canon helped rid the voles for good bye taking over the transportation of the Cardassian vermin to Mrell's ship. Lt. Dennis Hanson, after coming to terms with the end of the vole crisis, sets up a double date with Wendi, Debra Michaels, and Gabe. Pelgrims woke to find he had missed his shift. He called Hanson to inquire about a double date. Mao'Syllis reentered the bridge the day after the voles were removed. She suggested having all senior officers go through shuttle requalifications. FO Hanson agreed. Ensign Nim Lister ran frantically from his quarters to the bridge when he, too, realized he was running late for his shift. Dennis and Gabriel spent a fun evening with Debra and Wendi on their double date. Captain Canon called for a solemn occasion – a formal remembrance ceremony – where many of the ship's crew, Lt. Hanson, Lt. Pelgrims, Dr. Patton, Mao'Syllis, and Specialist Kari, reflected and grieved over lost friends, family, and colleagues. Captain Canon dismissed the crew after the remembrance ceremony, leaving all but Pol and a worried Dennis Hanson to talk things over. Hanson and Pelgrims discussed the double date where Gabe revealed that he and Debra are talking again. Her brother Petty Officer Mao'Piyan, whom she sent a reply message, contacted Mao'Syllis. Syllis and Hanson work out a flight test schedule for the crew, including Captain Canon. Canon called the senior staff together to conference on the new orders, which sends the Nightingale to the Loten system on a diplomatic mission. The staff took turns discussing possible scenarios, solutions, and potential problems.
