The Inconvenient Truth brings up many different points about our world today, and the world of the future. The main focus of the movie is global warming and how it is detrimental to the environment of both now and the future. This rising temperature is causing many different problems such as causing different ice caps and large chunks of ice such as the glaciers found on Antarctica and Greenland. These large ice caps are melting due to many different effects of global warming.

The movies focus is not only on the different problems that global warming is causing for the planet and for the people on it, but it also looks at the morality of what is happening. The movie brings up the morality of what the world, and largely America, is doing to cause this global warming. The United States is the leading producer of greenhouse gases such as CO2 which is created by the emissions of what we use to make our lives easier. While we make our lives easier we are endangering the lives of the billions of people who will come after us. We are selfishly destroying the planet because it is convenient to us, while we do not worry about what will happen in the years to come.

Many different nation of the world have made efforts to cut back on the emissions that they create, but the United States has not. We continue to produce gasses that kill the environment. The major problem that we are causing is rising temperature as well as water levels. If the ice caps do melt due to the rise in temperature that we are causing, as the video says, we will be displacing millions of people all around the world due to a large reduction in land. Many of the major parts of the world will be covered with water and will become unlivable, and even though it seems to be obvious to many people around the world, we continue to sit back and do nothing as the danger of destroying the planet becomes more and more a current issue.

The movie has shown me just exactly how serious this problem is, and just how much we are to blame. When I heard of global warming prior to this movie I never knew that things were happening now, in the present. I had always pictured an extremely subtle change in the far future. This movie truly puts into perspective the problem and the necessity to address the problem as quickly as possible so that we can save the planet for us and for the people to come in the future who will need to rely on this planet to survive.
