The Day I bought my New Dyna Lowrider

In the past months, I have fast become a devoted motorcycle rider. I may only have been riding a short time, but logging more than 7,000 miles in seven months, this has become more than just a hobby, it's become a way of life.
After Dave & I rode to Virginia and back, I finally discovered what I had heard about rough-riding, long distance trips on a Sportster. I was determined to prove everyone wrong, since I loved my Sporty and thought that's probably the biggest bike I could ever ride. It was then I wondered, "Could I ever ride a bigger cruising bike?...No Way!! Not little ol' me!" : )
As the story goes, back in August in my usual, impulsive way and with Dave's encouragement, I put my name on the infamous "list" at Schaeffer's HD to get a Harley Dyna Lowrider when one became available. A huge selling point was that HD made some modifications to the 2001 model, lowering the seat 2", changing the suspension, lots of things that promised the comfort of a cruise bike with the handling of a sport bike.. it sounded just like what I wanted!....usually you wait a long time, sometimes more than a year on these lists, and I figured, I'll have plenty of time to save my $$ or to change my mind--whichever happened first...hehe... I was not entirely certain if I wanted to do this---I hadn't even rode anything larger than my sporty hugger, which I truly loved!..."ME" on a big twin!---Yea Right!! ha!
October 31, 2000 Carol Schaeffer calls and says one has become available, Do I want to look at it?..Well Gee, I guess I can look, right?..no harm in looking, trying it out for size, afterall the timing wasn't right...I didn't expect this until next Spring at least...I MUST BE CRAZY!...
You can pretty much tell the rest from the pics; I traded in my sporty to upgrade to this beautiful Lowrider. Up until riding it home, I still hadn't actually rode one. Everyone told me I would love it and I could handle it---I was terrified!!! I didn't sleep the night before going to pick it up, I was so anxious about whether I could do it or not, also the weather was getting cold, wet, and unpredictable, as is the case in November in the Northeast...They predicted a high of 50, I think it hit 45 degrees..
