The Calm before the Storm
March 3, 2001
...The Northeast is preparing for a possible, major snowstorm, maybe 8-22 inches of snow depending on where you are and on the way the storm moves. It's suposed to start sometime tomorrow evening. This morning, it feels on the "warmer" side, maybe high 30's, I'm thinking of all the bikers preparing to leave for Bikeweek at Daytona Beach, Florida, *sigh* and I'm getting more psyched for a ride...
It seems like it will almost hit 40's and it is dry. (where there isn't any leftover snow anyway) Afterall, Dave & I haven't ridden together with my new Dyna yet, and he's got those new "two-in-one" turn pipes to blow the carbon soot out of, so....What else to do?...Gotta RIDE!
We planned to maybe just go down the road abit. Yea right! We went through Mt Carmel, Elysburg, RT487 to RT42 Cattawissa to RT11 Bloomsburg. We ended up going 70 or so miles roundtrip...stopped at Vreelands HD and Dunkin Doughnuts for a coffee to warm up. Back over the little mountain, and the creek road, RT 339, favorite riding roads. It was great! I gotta admit, I'm a little rusty and feel more nervous, but I've been told even long-time experienced riders get that feeling after not riding in awhile. The more I rode, the better it got, and I LOVE my new bike! ...so SMOOTH a ride!
The cold weather, and all those layers of clothing to peel off at every stop, inhibited my usual "too many" photos, but we did manage a few...
Before we left, I had so many layers on, I couldn't move! I had to take a few off and start over---it reminded me of being a "bundled up" kid who couldn't move. Ya know? Now how am I gonna ride a bike like this?????
Only thing, my hands got a little cold near rides end, I just can't get used to shifting with those thick insulated gloves. Maybe in time...
The beauty of a cool, end-of-winter day. What a feeling! Like they say, "If ya have to explain...."
I don't know who enjoyed the ride more..."Dave & I" or the bikes! We all sure needed it!!
..Sunsetting on a "good-feeling" kinda day....
