Daniel's great-great-great-grandfather John Jude Jr. was born October 11, 1850.His great-great-great grandmother Martha Mullens Jude was born March 29 1844. They lived on Martin co. Ky.

This story was told to Daniel's great-great grandfather Floyd Jude. He told it to Daniiel's great grandfather John Jude Sr.and he told his daughter Judy Simpson. She told it to Dexter Jude Jr.,Daniel's dad.

This is how the story goes.

It seems that a man and his buddies ended up at John and Martha's house.He was a ledgendary man by the name of Jesse James. She repotedly took them in and fed them. They also supposivly spent the night there. The next day she helped them get away by opening a gate for them.

Later, John Jude Sr.,Daniel's great grandfather,named his youngest son after Jesse."Here comes Jesse James," he said the day he was born.

My great grandfather was born in 1911 and raised in the Coal mountain area along with his brothers and sisters.He was a small boy when a stranger on a horse back stopped at his home and ask for something to eat.The stanger turned out to be a bank robber known as Jessie James.His parentsshaed thier supper with him and after finishing the meal he thanked them and rode off.Myy grandfather said the famous outlaw was tall and slim, with dark hair who seemed to be a well manered and quiet man. They never knew what he was doing in West Virginia, maybe hiding in the mountains from the law, visiting family or some other reason. But the one thing my great grandfather did know was he ate supper with a man who would become a great legend, the outlaw Jessie James.
